How I Built FasadPro: Using AI to Transform Home Renovation Visualization
Hello Indie Hackers! I'm excited to share my journey building FasadPro, an AI-powered tool that helps homeowners visualize facade renovations instantly.
The Problem
I noticed a huge pain point: homeowners struggle to visualize facade changes before spending thousands on renovations. Traditional solutions are expensive and time-consuming:
Professional mockups cost $500-2000
3D modeling requires specialized skills
Simple photoshop work often looks unrealistic
The Solution
FasadPro lets users upload a photo of their house and instantly see AI-generated visualizations with different materials, colors, and architectural styles. No design skills needed!
My Journey
Building FasadPro started as a side project while working full-time. I used Next.js and React for the frontend, with a custom AI pipeline that processes and transforms facade images. The biggest technical challenge was optimizing the AI models to produce realistic results quickly.
Current State
The product is now in beta with early users . I'm currently focusing on:
Improving the accuracy of AI transformations
Building a library of architectural styles
Optimizing the user experience for non-technical users
What I've Learned
Focus on solving a specific pain point really well rather than building a Swiss Army knife
Get feedback early (my first version was embarrassingly simple)
Design matters enormously for visual products
