Hello hackers,
The idea stage of a business is fraught with peril. An idea is fragile and needs much help to turn into reality. A personal board of advisors helps me to refine the idea and keeps me accountable!
As a first-time founder, I knew I need help. Thorough volunteering with SCORE https://sanfrancisco.score.org/ I met a VC and I send him emails about startup valuations to keep him in the loop.
I came across the angel investor while co-mentoring with him, and he keeps asking me for a pitch deck of my startup and a spreadsheet with financial numbers. It keeps me focused.
I found the hedge fund manager via a chess event. I reached out to him and after discussing my finances, he mentioned he wanted to transition to consulting and advisory work. We're planning to create financial content together and exchange emails every 48 hours to nail down the next steps. Couldn't have asked for a more knowledgeable person.
The lawyer works in the same company as me and has a vested interest since the idea I'm working on (financial wellness for millennial entrepreneurs) involves working with lawyers. She is super forthcoming with ideas, I meet with her every other week.
I'm grateful for everyone's support. No person is an island, and we're better off building together.
Agreed!
