How I create thumbnails in 60 seconds for YouTube videos
I started YouTube in May 2020. Yup. I am new to the game and I have realized that after uploading SO 👏 MANY 👏 VIDEOS 👏 my thumbnail game was the worst thing (okay my microphone set up is hit and miss too )
I had to do something about it...
But I suck at creating art, and I don't own photoshop (or a cool alternative)
so I thought: could the product from another maker help me?
As I was browsing through producthunt I noticed that I had a friend who recently built & launched a product that perfectly matches my needs: A banner generator with templates!

I am still not sure what the best formula to writing the text of the thumbnail of the video, maybe I should use more "WTF" and clickbait - gonna take a look and figure it out soon!
Also my next step is to create a super smooth experience where I can press 1 button and the thumbnail generation would be created AND uploaded. Stay tuned as I explore more around the APIs I could use!

We've been trying to optimize recently to get some additional clicks from YouTube search.

It's hard to read some of the thumbnails' text and when everything is too white or too black they don't stand out, for example your UNSPAM 2020 video, Recess, or the thumbnail for hims & hers...
Keeping the style: You have too many styles of thumbnails, this also includes having a good color-scheme that matches your brand (red and white) - consider that WHITE background is the default background of YouTube so maybe you wanna frame your white background with a huge red outline?

I don't know but I feel like you need BOLD BIG TEXT (BBT) - and don't do the stupid mistake I did where the text matches the title of the YouTube video. Instead it should be more "clickbaity" - for example go on YouTube and look for the Caisey Neistat video that says "The Almost Perfect Camera" and you will see what I mean.

I don't know yet because I haven't researched the data behind this but I wonder if having a picture of a face instead of a screenshot of something (like an email for you or...a landing page for me) would make more sense
