Can you tell us the numbers? Before/after? Thanks!

    1. 1

      Before, 1 visit = $1 of revenue, now 1 visit = $2

One of the biggest surprises to me is just how few indie hackers use templates or professional designs for their landing pages. There are startup landing page templates all over the internet, and although they're fairly generic, they tend to nail the basics when it comes to getting best practices right, being readable, being responsive, looking professional, conveying trust, etc. Not to mention, they're faster and easier than doing it yourself! So using them frees us up to work on the harder and more important parts of our business.

Then again, looking at myself, I'm almost always tempted to design from scratch, too. Perhaps the answer is a simple one: because it's fun.

I didn't code the template myself, I used Carrd (like for all my landing page)!

I totally agree with you, it's a waste of time (even if it's fun).

But even with a template you still have a lot of improvements/tweaks to try.

Congrats on doubling your conversion! πŸš€ If you don't mind sharing, what was your conversion rate before vs after?

    1. 0

      Before: 1 visit = $1 monthly revenue

      1. 2

Sorry, I should have clarified what I meant by conversion rate. I was thinking # of subscribers / # of visitors. What was that before vs after, if you don't mind sharing?

        1. 0

Please read the post, everything is in there πŸ™‚

          1. 2

Sorry but I don't see the numbers either. If so, can you just tell the number or point at the place where you put them? Thanks!

I wish someone would help me with my landing page. I've installed hotjar but it's so anecdotal it's hard to say what works and what doesn't

    1. 1

The best way to know for sure what works and what doesn't is to split test. That said, I can offer a bit of advice based on what typically does and doesn't work for most landing pages.

First, I would explore some different headline options. My first thought was that your product was some sort of page speed tool like a caching or image optimization plugin. Also, you need to be careful with yes/no questions because it's too easy for people to give the answer you don't like.

I think that you could be doing more with the hero area. It's good that it has some white space and the headline is nice and big, but you could add a bit more to grab attention and pull visitors deeper into the site. You could make the top nav smaller if you need the space to add an image, CTA and/or kicker above the fold.

You have some good social proof, but it's a bit hard to read in its current format. Plus having the whole threads makes them a bit long. I would try to pick out the best of what's there and include who said it instead of blurring that info out. If you're concerned about it, you can reach out and ask permission to use it on your site. If they already publicly endorsed it on social media I don't see why they wouldn't agree.

I have some additional thoughts, but they would be better to test when you have the traffic and/or are more nitty-gritty details. If you want, let me know and I'd be happy to share them with you.

      What's your landing page?

Don't think of optimization of you don't have some consistent traffic. I guess you should find ways to bring eyeballs first and optimize afterwards

      1. 1

adminpagespider.com but yeah you're right. I have to start forking out serious money to get more traffic to it - so I sorta want to make sure it's okay before I do that. Tricky chicken & egg scenario :D

        1. 1

You're actual page is ok. I would only update the subheader with the "how". Explain more what's your product and how you're solving the issue (in 10-15 words).
And add a CTA right below.

Then bring traffic and iterate from that

Amazing post! Really interesting to see the changes you made.

I'm a copywriter -- and I see you're looking to improve the copy. I'd love to chat -- okay if I send you a calendly? Not a pitch, I'm just genuinely interested in helping someone who's actively tracking conversion rates.

Sure, you can find my email on my profile (or use Twitter!)

Your landing page is pretty good! One of the best I've seen on here for a while. Good luck with your project!

You can see the the benefits as well as what you actually are within one sight. And the look is very clean and professional.

      Thanks man!

80% of the job had been done by Carrd tho πŸ˜…

  7. 1

Nice! I'm really surprised about the navigation bar helping.

    1. 1

Yes, it solves the "is it a free product or is it a SaaS". It removes a small anxiety

  8. 1

Loved your landing page. But the pricing for your package bundle is a little high for new startups.

    1. 1

      Thanks!

I got feedback saying the exact opposite πŸ˜ƒ
      At what are you at?

  9. 1

Your landing page is good but you should add CTA button in starting of page which can help you to increase the conversion rate.

    1. 1

Interesting, where would you put it?

(I have a button right below the headline for now, which redirect to pricing)

    Hi Xavier,

What kind of tracking/analytics software do you use?

  11. 1

    Thank you Xavier

    1. 1

      Of course J4 πŸ™‚

      No, I don't :/

I don't have enough traffic to test each change separately or to do a proper A/B testing campaign on a month
