How i failed in my startup

Hello everyone,

In this article, I will tell you how I failed in my startup.

Tworentals is vacation rental property manager.

First of all, I want to talk about myself. I've been a software developer for over 15 years. I have developed many apps. I've been the founder of many startups.

But this time I decided to take a different path. I did not want to develop the app myself. Instead I wanted to buy good Saas software and grow the business.

I searched flippa.com for a long time for this. I finally found a site. I contacted the seller and as a result of long negotiations, I bought the application for 6K EUR.

The app actually had no customers.

Lesson 1: Think twice before buying an app without a client.

The application was developed with NodeJs and I am good with Microsoft technologies.

Lesson 2: If you're buying an app developed in a language you don't know, either know that language or have enough money to hire a developer who knows that language.

After receiving the app, I post articles in many places and gave advertisements. But there was a problem, I was trying to operate in a sector that I had not experienced before. For this reason, I could not really get customers.

Lesson 3: If you want to run business in an unfamiliar industry, do your market research and do your homework well.

I tried to keep it going for a long time, but meanwhile, my AWS expenses started to become too much and I had run out of money. I couldn't take it any further.

I tried selling the app for a while. I failed.

Now, as a final decision, I decided to release the app as open source.
