I got 400 signups with a video of a product that didn’t exist
A practical example of a “fake it till you make it” approach to product development

This was a good read! Charging for something that doesn’t exist is the ultimate form of validation. I’ve always wanted to do it but never found the courage 😂
@andreboso Thank you! I was prepared to give to people the money back, but they found somehow the script useful 🤷♂️
Hey guys,
I decided to write short blogpost about my way of getting 400 signups to my product Bannerium
What are your thoughts on that?
Hi that's a great post and we've seen a lot of people working on this kind of banner products similar to bannersnack or abyssale - from your video it seems there's a lot of people interested in the problem. How did you solve the monetization part once you got the signups? Did you run the people through a funnel with emails or ads - or did u simply call them back when the product was ready to be purchased?
Hey @orliesaurus, thanks! I know all the products. The difference is that they also need to build whole toolbox which has Photoshop. Based on the research, pro graphic designers don't want to leave Photoshop to do the banners.
I am struggling with monetisation part: Once I had singups, then we built the product, I launched beta with 50 users and we were polishing the product. But I didn't have anything sophisticated. I believe this is the weak part. But I plan to start with ads soon and we will see the results.
That's so clever compared to the build it first approach I've taken and failed so many times
What helped me is to pay the developer, afterwards. Then I understood that we need to be fast and I need to accurately tell him what to do.
