How I got 560K impressions on X in 10 days with zero followers and zero ad spend

i recently ran an experiment on X. took a brand new account with zero followers and tried to see how fast i could grow it using a specific strategy. the results kind of blew my mind and i wanted to share exactly what i did.

• 560K total impressions
• 100K+ daily impressions at peak
• 6.3K engagements
• 677 profile visits
• 1.1% engagement rate (for context, industry average is around 0.05% — so this was about 22x that)

the strategy

ok so the core idea is dead simple but almost nobody does it properly.

the number one mistake people make on X is posting into the void. if you have no followers, nobody sees your posts. it literally does not matter how good your content is. you're tweeting to an empty room.

instead of doing that, i spent about 80% of my time replying to viral tweets in my niche. the logic is straightforward — when a tweet already has 50K impressions and you leave a genuinely good reply, thousands of people see your name and profile. you're borrowing someone else's audience.

the key word there is "genuinely good." not "great post!" or "so true" — nobody engages with that stuff. i wrote replies that were either funny, slightly controversial but defensible, or added a perspective that wasn't already in the thread. the kind of reply that makes people stop scrolling and actually think for a second.

i targeted specific bigger accounts in my space and replied to their tweets within the first 30-60 minutes of posting. early replies get way more visibility because the algorithm pushes them up while the tweet is still gaining traction.

i also posted 2-3 original tweets per day, but honestly these were secondary. the replies drove probably 80% of the total impressions.

consistency mattered more than anything else. i did this every single day, multiple times a day. not just when i felt like it. the algorithm clearly rewards accounts that show up consistently.

within about 3-4 days, the compounding started to kick in. my replies were getting replies. people started following me. and then my original posts started getting actual traction because i now had an engaged audience that would interact with them early — which signals to the algorithm to push them further.

if you're a saas founder and you're not active on X, you're honestly leaving distribution on the table. X is where your potential customers, investors, and future hires are hanging out. but most founders i talk to don't have 60-90 minutes a day to execute this kind of strategy properly.
