How I got my 5 first users

If you're getting traffic but no signups, or signups but no sales, it's probably not your product. It's your landing page.

I launched PostClaw 3 weeks ago. AI agent that lets you post to 13 social media platforms from one chat. Right now I'm at 58 signups and 5 paying customers. Just crossed $150 MRR.

Not huge numbers. But 10 days ago I had zero revenue and zero signups for a full week. Two changes fixed that.

The headline

My first headline explained the product: "Publish on 13 platforms from one chat." 40 signups in 2 weeks.

Then I swapped it to flex the tech stack. Zero signups for a week. Same traffic, same product, different words at the top.

I rewrote it around the outcome: "Your social media. Done in 30 seconds."

8 signups that same night. Not over a week. That night.

The first headline described the product. The last one described what happens for YOU. Your social media, done. 30 seconds. A result you can picture.

If your headline talks about what your product IS instead of what it DOES for someone, you're probably losing signups right now.

The demo video

But signups aren't sales. I had 48 signups and zero revenue. People were curious enough to create an account but not convinced enough to pay.

I recorded a 30-second screen recording. Just me using the product, typing in the chat, posts going out to Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram. No script, no editing. Just the thing working.

First two paying customers within 48 hours. Three more followed in the next week.

You can tell people what your product does all day. But the moment they SEE it working, something clicks. "Oh, it actually does that." That's when someone pulls out their card.

If you don't have a demo video on your landing page, add one today. It doesn't need to be polished. It needs to exist.

What I'm doing right now

Zero ad budget. So I'm putting content everywhere until the numbers tell me where to focus:

  • IndieHackers 3x/week
  • Reddit in relevant subs
  • 4 blog articles per week for SEO
  • X daily
  • Just started TikTok

No idea which channels brought the sales. Don't have attribution set up yet. But the landing page is what converted them.

$100 MRR is tiny. But a few weeks ago it was $0 with zero signups for a week. One sentence and one 30-second video turned that around.

If you're stuck at zero revenue: look at your landing page before you touch anything else. Is your headline about your product or about the person reading it? Can someone see it working without signing up first?

Fix those two things. Everything else comes after.

This is a really useful example of how small wording changes can completely change intent.

The difference between explaining the product and explaining the outcome is easy to underestimate. I’m early on something too, and this makes me think I should test the emotional “why now?” before trying to drive more traffic.

Nice progress, and the post is a good reminder that headline + demo really do move money.

    Quick conversion pass on postclaw.io:

    1. The hero still feels a bit category-first ("AI social media manager") instead of buyer-first. I’d test a sharper promise around the exact job and speed, something closer to "Turn one prompt into platform-ready posts in 30 seconds".
    2. You say the demo unlocked buyers, but the first screen should make that proof impossible to miss. Put the 30-second video or a gif above the fold, not lower in the page.
    3. "Who it’s for" needs a narrower first wedge. Right now it reads broad, but your earliest buyers are probably solo founders or tiny teams trying to stay visible without hiring help.
    4. Add one concrete output example near the hero, like one prompt turning into 3 actual channel variants, so people instantly believe the transformation.
    5. Pricing would convert better with a tiny trust/risk line near the buttons, for example whether setup is instant, whether there’s a free trial, and what happens if someone disconnects an account.
    6. The "Powered by" section is interesting, but it steals attention from the buyer outcome. I’d keep buyer proof and workflow higher than infrastructure.

You’ve already proven the landing page can move signups and sales, so this is probably about reducing the disbelief tax another notch.

If useful, I can do a brutally specific $1 teardown of the full page flow here: https://roastmysite.io/go.php?src=external_manual_ih_postclaw_5payingusers_apr24_usd_presell_hv

The headline shift is the real unlock here — love that you quantified it.

One thing I've noticed digging through Reddit/HN threads: people describe their pain in pure outcome language ("I waste 2 hours every Sunday planning posts"), almost never in feature language. Founders who just paste those sentences into their homepage basically get the "outcome headline" for free.

Your 30-sec demo lesson lines up too — the unpolished one probably felt more like the problem state users were already in.

Congrats on the 5, curious what channel #6 looks like for you.

Just finished reading this fully, and the part about changing messaging from features to outcomes really stood out. Also the demo video point makes so much sense — I realized I’ve been expecting users to ‘imagine’ the value instead of showing it clearly. Super practical insights, thanks for sharing this.

The headline lesson is underrated. "What it is" vs "what it does for you" — most landing pages I see (including my own early versions) get this backwards.

The demo video point is spot on too. People trust their eyes more than your copy. Good stuff!

You did great, interesting to see how just seeing the product working helped massively, this motivated me to add a video demo to my homepage too. How have you been getting traffic to your page so far?

    1. 1

It's a great idea, keep me updated if you see any change after adding the video.

Yes a lot, from Reddit, IndieHackers, X etc

the headline insight is gold. we made the same mistake — our landing page said what the tool IS instead of what it DOES for you. "python SEO analyzer" vs "find every SEO issue on your site in 2 seconds." completely different energy. and the demo video point is spot on too. we added a live "try it" widget where people can paste their URL and see actual results before signing up. people trust what they can see working. going to steal the outcome-first headline approach for our gumroad pages now. thanks for sharing the actual numbers, this is the kind of post that actually helps people.

Thanks for sharing it, I love your idea of "try it", you're absolutelly right, peoples buy something if they triedit, or saw what it does. Good luck for your gumroad page!
