How I got my first side hustle idea from a tweet
Twitter is a wealth of first-hand knowledge!
I've been using it every day for the last 4-5 weeks.
My main goal was to learn from experienced hustlers and treat my follows as mentors.
These profiles (examples) have been immensely helpful:
After a while, I started engaging with a few of them, DM'ing, replying to their posts or retweeting the cool stuff.
One mentor(B2B founder), mentioned he had 6 business ideas he couldn't jump on due to his current venture.
However, if anyone was interested in pursuing them, he would explain the high-level idea and be a beta tester.
This was all I needed to hear.
A couple of DM's later and I had:
- a real problem to solve
- a beta tester
- and a potential solution
Not bad for stalking peeps on twitter and using my thumbs more productively.
I've had the desire to start a side hustle and apply my mind to something specific instead of tinkering with no goal.
My other concern was also working on a solution that needed a problem.
With this project, I bypass all the hurdles mentioned above.
It's 7 days since he shared the idea and I've managed to:
- knock out prototype design
- register a domain
- set up the business email
- and kickoff the MVP code
Where this goes? I'm not entirely sure yet but I'll stick to my process I use at my 9-5. It hasn't failed me yet.

Like yourself, I've started to prioritise Twitter over the past gew months.
I was previously a big LinkedIn advocate, but found so much more value in the conversations across twitter.
Great work so far on the new project. It'll be exciting once you get to revenue, then have a user who would be willing to share their product with their network.
Looking forward to following the journey.
Yeah, I found LinkedIn more valuable for initial contacts or prospecting.
Also, it seems that posts are more polished and less personal or raw.
