How I got my first users in a few hours after launch

This is the story of how we launched https://floordle.app/ with nearly no social presence

We were 95% done with our MVP and realised that nobody actually knows about our product. This, my friend, is a very scary feeling.

Our socials looked weak:
https://twitter.com/FloorDle - 7 followers
and my personal account https://twitter.com/ad52l - 15 followers.

We didn't want to pay for ads, SEO would give results only in a couple of months and posting on PH without people already knowing you would make crickets sound like a Metallica concert.

So the only sources left were Reddit, Indie Hackers and Hacker News. I created a post on IH saying that we launched ( even tho I had 0 followers here ), a few posts on Reddit and one on HN.

Results:
First 12 hours we got 36 users:

Hacker news : 27
IH: 4
Reddit: 0
Waiting list: 5 ( we had a waiting list set up on the website )

No paying users yet but it's still something.

I definitely suggest exploring HN more and read about the bots that are posting about new entries in "show" part to different slack channels. Will make a post about that soon.
