How I got the idea ?
As an indie hacker, I’ve always admired people who spot a problem, build a solution, and then turn it into a thriving business. It sounds so simple in theory, but when it comes to brainstorming my own product ideas, I often hit a wall. That is, until I stumbled upon a problem I knew I had to fix—not just for myself, but for others too. Here’s how it happened.
The Problem: Downloading Invoices from Stripe
If you’ve ever run a business that uses Stripe, you’ll know how amazing it is as a payment processor. It simplifies a lot of things—except one. Downloading invoices.
For months, I had to manually download invoices one by one for accounting purposes. Imagine going through dozens—or even hundreds—of invoices this way. It was tedious, repetitive, and frustrating. I thought, there must be a tool for this.
So, I searched. And searched. And… nothing. At least, nothing that did exactly what I needed.
That’s when the lightbulb went off: If I’m struggling with this, there must be others who are too.
The Solution: Building MassInvoices
Once I realized the gap in the market, I decided to create a tool that could:
Connect to a Stripe account.
Automatically fetch all invoices.
Download them as a single ZIP file.
Simple, right? Well, not quite. As with any product, building MassInvoices came with its own challenges. Stripe has API limits, handling large batches of invoices requires careful thought, and creating a user-friendly interface is always harder than it seems. But slowly, the pieces came together.
What’s Next?
MassInvoices is still growing, and I’m working on adding more features to make it even better. But most importantly, this experience taught me that decent product ideas don’t have to be flashy or revolutionary. They just need to be useful.
