Luckily we live in times when learning resources are abundant! Good luck Carolyn!

    1. 1

Yes, that’s truly an amazing time to start entrepreneurship! 😄

  2. 2

    Interesting and inspiring

  3. 2

Very cool post. Really nice to see your progress over time.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but the post for "16/08/2022" is out of order with the others.

    1. 2

Oh, thanks for noticing it, it was 16/07, made a typo, just fixed it!

  4. 2

Hi carolyn! Very inspiring blogpost - thank you for sharing. I have the same background as you, and also started coding last spring, but have paused my efforts the last months. This is motivation to get back into it, and dive in deeeep.

    Good luck with your projects!

Heyy! Someone else posted the link but I'm the author of the blog haha

      I'm glad it's useful!! 😀
If you want to get back to programming, I compiled the list of most of the resources I used to learn here: https://kursus.io (In "Learn to code"), feel free to check it out!

Definitely not the only way to learn it tho, but it worked great for me starting from 0

      1. 2

kursus.io is great name, I know where the name come from :)

        1. 1

Hahaha, at first I took it because of the word"Cursus" in French, but when my GF told me it was actually the exact word in Bahasa, I knew it was the right name!

      2. 1

Fun post. I didn't see a link to your product anywhere in it?

        1. 1

          Thanks 😄
Because I didn’t really made the post to promote them, was mainly for myself

The lastest I released is Kursus.io, the one I linked above, it’s just a list of great resources i used to learn new skills, anyone can create its list (no paywall or anything, just a small free app)

I am also planning to learn AI and ML, from starting I have a confusion about it, where did you get the data to train the AI model? Does it require lot of money to build an AI based application?

    1. 2

The ML community is incredible and they publish a LOT of dataset online, available for free!
During my learning, I didn't paid for anything, I only used free stuffs I found online.

With what I'm doing now (experimenting with picture-generation A.I) it costs me a few bucks per months, but nothing too big.
It can get quite expensive if you scale tho, but that's a problem for another time 😁

      1. 1

Thank you so much for answering :)
Did the picture generation AI already have the data? and if we go about to make AI for some different stuff, do we need to setup datasets from scratch? will that gonna cost a lots of money?

        1. 2

So, there are lots of AI that generate pictures now, and they are all trained so you don't need to train them.
The most famous one are Stability, Dall-E and Midjourney. Stability is open source, meaning you can download it and run it on your computer, BUT, it require a powerful computer, and it's a bit technical to setup.

If you want to play around with AI images without going to technical, take a look at https://beta.dreamstudio.ai, it's made using Stability. There is a free trial and it's not very expensive (Around 10 bucks for 500-1000 pictures I think?)

What costs money in AI is GPU power. If you have a gaming computer, you can probably do everything on your own without paying anything (except electricity), but otherwise you'll have to either use an app that generate pics for you like Dreamstudio (no setup, pay per image) or rent GPU (tech setup, pay per seconds used)

It you're just starting out, best is to use the non-tech stuff to see the possibilities, and if you want to dive into it, you can start to dive a bit deeper :D

I listed all the resources I used to learn A.I here: https://kursus.io/k/3a1e12 (not very organized yet tho haha)

          1. 2

Thank you so much, you are awesome :)

  6. 2

Love it! I'm curious How did you get better at math? and did directly hop into AI after nailing down the basics in python?

    1. 2

      Here you go: https://kursus.io/k/3a1e12

90% of the resources I followed to learn A.I & Machine learning :)

Coursera is marked as Free because you get a free trial, then it's something like $30/month (totally worth it)

The Math chapter is not well organized, but should contains everything I personally had trouble with (which is 90% of the stuff lol)

    2. 2

Considering my background (Was one of the most terrible people in Math in my classes), I had to learn a LOT of the basics, so I spent a few days checking some resources. Give me a few hours and I'll try to re-find them and compile them :)

For Python, yes, I finished the course and then jumped directly into A.I

      1. 2

thank man, really appreciate the info. Keep us updated on your journey!

        1. 2

Will do! I started recording myself everyday and posting on my Twitter if you want to check, but I'll also post bigger updates on IH!

This was a really interesting read. I'm currently looking into getting into/learning coding, so it was interesting seeing your timeline which is much faster than the average. Shows what can be achieved when you put your mind to it. Thanks for sharing!

    1. 1

Hey! Glad you liked the article 😁

Yes, I literally spent a whole 2 months inside my hotel room without getting out haha

If you want, I made a list of the resources I used to learn: https://kursus.io/k/ef86d9

I didn't included A.I stuffs inside but if you're interested it's Coursera's course, very technical but very good!

  8. 2

Wow, this is impressive. Well done on what you've learned and achieved. You've inspired me!

    1. 1

      Thanks a lot! 😃
I still have a lot to learn but I'm glad other people can get inspired by that!

  9. 1

Good luck , if you need any tech help you can reach us out criov.com

This is a great post, I just recently started learning python and am at the stage you was at the start.

I have basic variable knowledge along with lists ect but know knowledge is capped when it comes to anything more powerful than a simple calculator or translator.

I appreciate your post, helped me understand the sort of things I can do when continuing my path into python.

  11. 1

So your company is still building? I don't think it says in the article that the company has been established

  12. 1

Great story! So great I'm encouraged to learn coding too. So great your story comes across as interesting and motivating and amazing and inspiring.

am likewise wanting to learn artificial intelligence and ML, from beginning I have a disarray about it, where did you get the information to prepare the simulated intelligence model? Does it require parcel of cash to assemble a simulated intelligence based application?

  14. 1

what did you use to build your website?

    Oh, that's me! Thanks 😁

Title is a bit confusing tho, just to clarify, that's my in-progress log. I still make some profit from some of my apps but not enough to live from it yet
