Like a lot of folks I've got myself some AI fever and like any good indie maker would do, I started writing a newsletter on the topic.
Bot Eat Brain is a few-times-a-week newsletter covering topics on AI in a light-hearted way.
The goal is to keep you up to date and come up with business ideas indie makers could steal to start their next million-dollar project with.
I started the project a few months ago but hit some writer's block over the last month as I got caught up on other projects.
Luckily interest didn't die down and last week a fellow indie hacker reached out via Twitter interested in sponsoring the newsletter to promote their new AI writing assistant.
Included a screenshot of our conversation as the main image of this post so you can see exactly how I closed the deal. It was super casual and easy as you can see there's no need to get complicated.
I billed him using an invoice generated on Stripe, but now that I've proved there's some interest I went ahead and set up a self-serve sponsorship booking page using a no-code tool called Passion Froot: https://www.passionfroot.xyz/boteatbrain
That was exactly the motivation I needed to finish the draft that had been sitting in my editing queue for two weeks and publish an issue on the intersection of music and AI.
Getting that first dollar ($25 first dollars to be exact) turned out to be exactly the push I needed to get excited about the project again.
The numbers might be small at the beginning of a new project, but it's the hope they represent that's important!
My goal now with Bot Eat Brain is to get back on our 2-3 issues per week writing schedule, start going hard again on marketing and think hard about how I can keep myself from getting blocked again in the future.
If you're interested in topics on AI you can read the newsletter here and if you're interested in following my journey as I bootstrap a profitable newsletter business I'm building in public on Twitter here.
We are currently at 500 subscribers and $25 in monthly revenue.
My goal is 1,000 subscribers and $100 in monthly revenue by next month and 10x-100x that in a year.

Hi. I am building a site where I interview newsletter founders. Would you be interested in doing one?
In being interviewed? Sure. Hit me up on Twitter DM, probably the easiest.
Hi. I just tried to send a DM but it won't let me. Please send me a DM at @News__Nook or you can shoot me an email at [email protected].
