Any stripe verified or proof of your revenue numbers?

It is hard to know if you are lying or not. Tai Lopez and Grant Cardone showed us how.

Also you are selling a course. 😱

    1. 2

I admire this question! You're so right.

      1. 2

Thank you. So many people come here to simply market something, in this case, his course. It would help so much if only stripe verified revenue folks can create these posts which claim to have x amount of revenue etc.

        1. 5

Completely. I checked some of his videos, and in some of them he shows his daily agenda, but every day his agenda is populated with just creating content. That is not an agenda of a tech founder (as he says he is). He looks like a person that has good communication skills and promotes and sells courses only based on his charisma rather than real experience.

Any stripe verified revenue? These are again literally your word. Just for a more trustworthy community I think it would be worth doing that.

        1. 1

I'm pretty sure this site has a way to add verified stripe numbers... So it's not like it's hard for him to add.

I looked into his follower counts on various social platforms that he has. They all seem very suspicious to me. https://www.indiehackers.com/post/i-made-over-10-000-without-even-launching-75e76e37a3?commentId=-NWNndxQL-n2ZpEyMWIW for the back and forth between me and Mike when I pointed out it was very suspicious.

40k MRR after 3-years is extremely plausible.

          1. 2

Huh thank you so much for writing this. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Stripe verified revenue is absolutely easy to add and it speaks a lot when a product won't add it.

Also the founder of Canny for example from which this product was copied is not selling a course. Copying isn't bad but Upvoty does feel like an also ran and so verifying their revenue would be even more important.

Lastly I don't think our comments here would put a dent on the number of people who want these numbers to be true. If he can do it, maybe they can do it. That is why so many entrepreneurs fail. Reality is hard. Fiction is soothing.

But hopefully these comments at least make a single person think. That's all one can try.

    Suspicious . A little suspicious

    Great Inspiration! Thanks lot

Comprehensible and tender bites to swallow.
I've watched the video. Awesome work my dear brother.
I would like to suggest adding another key point to success in SaaS which is very beneficial and makes SaaS goes viral by allowing referral links for users to share with friends and hit them back with commission and extras in features or subscription.
I believe verbal marketing (word-of-mouth) is so useful.

    Thanks brother. Keep posting.

He's selling courses. Don't be naive folks! No proof just another guru lying

  6. 4

    Great advice!

    Saved to rewatch:) Thank you!

Mike, I'm a big fan of your videos and following for a while. I've a question about validation of upvoty in the initial days.

If I'm not wrong, Canny and other competitors were already in the market. They were growing and that definitely offered some validation already. If I'm not mistaken, upvoty didn't start out with anything new that competitors were not offering.

Let me know if I missed anything. If the above is true, how did you convince your early users to try Upvoty over competitors?

Also, what are your thoughts on entering a market that already has established players; and a validated market?

    1. 2

Thanks for the kind words! And you’re def right. There were some competitors out there, but, the way of collecting feedback through boards was fairly new.

On top of that, the existing ones were either not great (product UI wise) or expensive.

We launched nearly the same, but with a better feature and pricing proposition :)

      1. 2

Thank you for replying, Mike. Since the product was already validated, why did you invest time in revalidating it? Wouldn't it make more sense to start building the product and start selling it?

Also, did you learn anything new about the user needs that you didn't figure out earlier? Which feature did you add that others didn't? I am in a similar situation that you wear at the time of launching MVP.

  9. 3

would definitely love a taste of this success

  10. 3

    This is interesting!

  11. 3

I want to express my gratitude for the video you shared recently.

What approaches have you found most effective in engaging customers and encouraging their responses?

    1. 2

Thanks! Honestly, 1:1 email works best. Just a casual email showing interest in what they're struggling with. A normal convo. It's highly underrated!

  12. 3

    Sage wisdom, thanks for posting!

    1. 3

      Thanks for the kind words!

I wrote a Twitter Thread, thanks for sharing Mike: https://twitter.com/tarasowski/status/1670052206299553794

      Woah! That’s awesome - thanks 🙏

  14. 3

You said to talk to your potential customers, but how do you do that, especially when your target audience is a big business?

    1. 4

Demos (1:1 meetings), emails, public convos (FB groups), etc.

      1. 1

What's the success rate for these meeting requests? Will businesses agree to schedule a meeting even if they don't benefit from it?

        1. 3

When they don’t benefit, it’ll be hard, I guess. But if they have a real problem and you want to solve it with their help, they’re absolutely willing to participate. People often underestimate that customers LOVE to be involved.

          1. 1

            Sounds about right. Cheers!

  15. 2

Great and informative video without fluff! Finally!
