🚀How I managed to grow my email list with no idea how🚀

I created this little email list called InternFromHome.io which basically helps college students find their internships. I had never created a newsletter or anything similar so I didn't have a clue if people even wanted this.

I obviously wanted more subscribers than just couple of my friends so I started thinking how would I do it. I read through Indie Hackers, Twitter and watched so many videos on this topic and came up with a couple of ways and platforms.

  1. Twitter 2. Paid advertising 3. Reddit

Twitter seemed like a long road and even though I created content on my personal account and on InternFromHome's account it didn't really come off to a flying start. With paid ads I thought it might be useful later but as I didn't really have validation for the idea in general I decided to skip it for now.

Then the only option left was Reddit. I had an account on there but I wasn't really an active user. I wasn't really familiar with the rules of the platform and how to deal with the crowd there. But somehow I managed to find this book on launchpedia.co/reddit-ebook/ (not a paid advert). I thought it had really good tips for Reddit beginners and really recommend reading it.

So with the tips from the book and reading through certain subreddits in my niche(university/college) I started gaining significant traction for InternFromHome.io. Only two weeks from launching I have gained over 200 subscribers with 0% churn rate and over 50% open rate on the emails. Also very good feedback from the early users. Obviously nothing groundbreaking but definitely a validation for the product and nice to make it even better from now on.

Thanks for reading and keep grinding!
