Especially in clothing. Sometimes e-commerce don't even know themselves who produce what because there are so many subcontracts.

Side projects are a fantastic way to build a portfolio, and provide some awesome conversation opportunities in job interviews. I'm not a big fan of the founder and startup porn that exists out there, so while I take my side projects seriously, I'm much more focused on the bootstrapped, "company of one" mentality than building some major Uber-like organization.
