How i started and got my first customer for a social scheduling tool.

Hello indie-hackers, I am Pulkit, the creator of notionsocial, which is a social media scheduler based on Notion.

The social scheduling space is already crowded, but my tool is not directly competing with any general scheduling tool.
I learned about Notion back in early 2022, and soon I too fell in love with it. I started to manage my whole life in it.

When I saw too many people promoting Notion social media management templates, I realized that many business owners also use Notion to manage many aspects of their business, including planning posts for their social media accounts.
But all these social media templates were only a way to organize, not an automated solution to schedule directly from Notion. While anyone could automate it by using tools such as Zapier, it first becomes more complex as you scale it to support multiple social accounts and databases, and second, it potentially lacked many features that a social media scheduler could provide, such as a "preview" while creating a post.
I searched for already existing solutions for it and found out about two potential competitors of mine: the first was Instapost, which was an open-source script that was again very hard for non-techies to setup, and the other was Queue, which only supported Twitter.
So now that I've realized the opportunity for a new micro-SaaS, I've written it down in my ideas database inside Notion.

Now, I didn't jump straight into building it, but got serious after 6-7 months in August 2022. I forked Instapost from GitHub and built it on top of it. They learned the APIs of Notion, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and soon released a working MVP and posted a video about it on a Notion Facebook group. Here's the link to the post https://www.facebook.com/groups/NotionTemplates/permalink/5565298070173796/

My post worked really well, and I received a lot of comments. I shared the link directly to the DM of the interested person.
And just after 3 days someone purchased an annual subscription plan for Notionsocial worth $129

Since then, I've been working on it consistently, launched a Chrome extension for it, and got eight paying customers.
