How I suddenly got a huge spike in traffic after struggling to get traction for a long time.

Hey guys 👋, So for the past 7 months I have been trying to build some SAAS apps. My first startup is called AppBoost, some of you might have read about it but for those that haven't.

AppBoost is an ad-network that is developed to help developers promote their apps for free. It is very easy to use, with less than 7 lines of code, developers can boost traffic to their apps and monitor the statistics. The sdk is currently available for android apps developed using Java.

After spending 3 months developing the first version, I had launched it but unfortunately it did not get enough attention as i had hopped. This was because i had no understanding about marketing a SAAS. Thereby leading me to abandon it.

I spent the next 2 months trying to find new ideas. By this time i gained enough experience and knowledge from my failed SAAS.

I couldn't think of any good ideas, I then resorted to find a co-founder. I posted on indeihackers looking for a partner, my idea was to find someone to complement my skills, I can develop almost anything viable, all i needed was a co-founder with a great idea, good marketing knowledge and a little bit of design experience.

I ended up finding a co-founder with a great idea but with no coding and marketing knowledge.

Fast forward to 10 days ago, we completed the first version of the new SAAS app called Fundmystartups.com and launched it on Product hunt producthunt.com/posts/fundmystartups . Guess what, it was another fail. The launch did not get enough attention. We tried everything but non of us was a marketer, we had no idea how to market our product.

It was like reliving the old days. It was really difficult. Then the magic happened, 2 days ago i was browsing through Facebook, when i received a random message. It was a guy that noticed how hard we where trying. He noticed our posts where all over facebook groups. We talked for a while, he told me he once had a product that got a lot of traffic then i asked some advice from him, he gave me some great tips. I call it the gray hat marketing method. I applied it and posted our product once again and yesterday we got a huge spike in traffic.

If there's anyone that needs some tips please feel free to email me at

Edit: Since i discovered this great marketing strategy, am bringing Appboost back to life.

Thanks for sharing Ozzy. Really impressive story!

Would love to hear your advice and thoughts on how to get more eyeballs on this project: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/calling-all-parents-90c700c236

Specifically targeting school aged parents who would like to take more ownership over their children's education. Any thoughts?
