How I tackled setting up SSL for custom domains for my SaaS

This might be useful for some folks here. Story is about provisioning SSL for SaaS customers that have public dashboard, status pages or whatever type of app/content they want to serve under their own domain.

I recently went through building and setting this up for my own SaaS and though I'd share. I'm in Node.js, AWS and Heroku land, but most of the stuff discussed is pretty applicable to other stacks too.

The post goes into three things:

• Configuring the Let's Encrypt / ACME client called Greenlock.
• Getting DNS right.
• Actually determining what content to serve based on hostname.

All seem pretty straightforward, but there are gotcha's at each step.

Hope this helps other budding SaaS operators or ops peeps that need this functionality.
