Hi everyone. I'm an engineer and YouTuber and this is the story of why I built QR Canvas. On YouTube, I host The Just Rocket Science Show where I talk to founders in the Space industry. And every time someone said, “Where can I find your show / site / product?”, I would immediately start:
It was the worst funnel! Most of those interactions never turned into a visit, let alone a subscriber. Business cards don’t really solve this either. They’re easy to lose, and they still require typing a URL.
As someone who thinks a lot about funnels and friction, this started to feel like a hilariously bad onboarding flow for the real world.
The one object that is always present in that conversation is the phone.
So the idea for QR Canvas was born:
What if your lock screen was your call-to-action?
Instead of spelling out a URL, you just wake your phone.
They scan a clean QR code on your lock screen and land instantly on:
No apps. No tapping. No typing. Just scan and go.
QR Canvas is intentionally simple. The flow looks like this:
Now, your phone becomes a tiny physical touchpoint:
I built it for myself first, but it naturally fits a few groups:
Basically: if you do anything that benefits from quick, in-person discovery, a QR-based lock screen is a nice little edge.
A few things that stood out while building & testing:
I’d love feedback from people who actually live this life:
Would you use something like this at meetups, conferences, or coworking spaces?
What features would make it more valuable? (Templates per audience, multiple profiles, basic analytics, etc.)
Any obvious edge cases I should be thinking about?
If this sounds like something that could help your funnel from real-world conversations to clicks, check out QR Canvas and let me know what you think.
Happy to share more about the tech stack or product decisions if that’s useful for anyone here.
