How I Went From $50 PM to $1k PM in Just Two Months

Hello everybody!

I am going to share with you the amazing story that changed my 3-year-old blog forever - I hope so ;)
I always waited for this moment but I never thought it would take this long, anyway, the past is past and now I can finally share my story.

The Dip

This is all about my blog MoneyWika that I started in July 2017 under the domain inconite com

I posted about making money online and cryptocurrency. Within 2 months, the blog started getting traffic from search engines but suddenly the traffic started dipping.
I thought that the domain name "inconite" had no meaning so, I moved to "moneywika".

The traffic rose again but was not up to the mark. I did everything I could - posting great content, linking from quality sites, etc but the traffic never went up, so, I gave up on my blog.
I left it untouched for almost 2 years(April 2018 - Feb 2020)

The Rise

Thanks to Covid-19, everything's changed! - I am not happy though. No Covid19 = no traffic but no loss of lives.

During the lockdown, I suddenly found myself having too much spare time. This is when I started taking care of my blog.

Things I did to improve my traffic:
1: Modified all the old posts
2: Changed the Theme
3: Published some new ones
4: Requested the removal of posts on other sites that copied my content.
5: Disavowed some spam links
6: Optimized the site - load speed, image optimized, etc.

Here is the Traffic Stats screenshot from Google Analytics
Traffic Stats Moneywika

In just 30 days, I started seeing improvement in the traffic.
Now, it's been 70 days since I started taking care of my blog and the traffic has grown from 10 - 20 visits a day to 700+. Wow!

Not only that, the site's Alexa rank grew too!
It was my dream to have an Alexa rank of under 150k. Luckily my blog now ranks under 130K.

And, I am doing everything I can to increase the traffic further so that my blog can rank under 100k.

How I Convert Traffic into Money?

Coming to the money-making part, I don't run ads. 100% of my income is through affiliate marketing.

I have a few golden posts - Best Money Making sites post is one of them.

It has a list of 12 money-making sites. Some of them offer awesome affiliate commissions, for others, I run Maxbounty offers.

All in all, I am getting tons of Affiliate sign-ups and leads. I never thought that traffic from search could be that effective.

And, you would be surprised to know that 80% of my search traffic is from Yahoo - yes, Yahoo!
For some reason, Google still doesn't like my blog but there is a slow and steady increase in Google traffic as well.

This is it, I hope you enjoyed my story!
Thanks for reading!

Quick Update: After Moneywika’s traffic dipped following the April ’22 algorithm update, I refused to give up. I pivoted into affiliate marketing and went on to earn over a million dollars. Now, I’m channeling that momentum into RytePad —my newly launched tool for managing daily tasks, private journaling, goal tracking, and personalized notes, all in one privacy‑first webapp.

Yahoo! that is interesting... Thinking of myself, Yahoo's finance section is pretty great; since your blog is finance based it may be due to that... 🤷‍♂️

Nice website, I checked it out, but the only article I read (about content writing) had a broken (404) link to iWriter. I think fixing 404 links on your page will also boost your search traffic.

      Thank you very much, friend!
iWriter changed their affiliate link and I didn't notice it until now.

Thanks Rajan for sharing. Quick question for you:
What site or plugins are you using to track who is stealing your content?

    1. 2

Well, I don’t use any plugins but I do use Google Alerts to track if someone is stealing my content.
All I do is, from every blog post, I copy 1-2 lines of text from different sections and add to Google Alerts. - max 5 sentences from a post.
I set notification for "as soon as it happens" so, when ever someone copies my content having sentences the I choose to be notified, Google sends me a notification.

I think you meant "Google Alerts" but either way its a cool way to handle it. Thanks for the tip.

        1. 1

Oops! Yes, I meant "Google Alerts". It was the effect of commenting during half-sleep ;)
          I modified it.

Thank you for sharing your experience, this will def guide me to the right place

Awesome story, I'm just about to check your blog out

Thanks for sharing your success story @RajanSharma this inspires me.

    Why did you give up?

Building a community and traffic takes time. Keep posting and creating content. By now you would have thousands of visitors.

    1. 1

Yes, my traffic is growing steadily. I will hit the thousand mark very soon.

This is a great story. Thanks for sharing @RajanSharma. Great to see that you figured out how to not only grow your traffic, but translate that into income with affiliate commissions. Well done!
