How I Would Growth-Hack a Task Manager App. [GOD MODE ACTIVATED] 🥵

There are SO many task manager/note apps out there right now. How do you, as an owner of a startup in an oversaturated niche detach yourself and generate dedicated customers?

An oversaturated market needs disruption. Disrupt with branding and content.

I'm going to share with you how I would operate and brand a 'generic' Task Manager app.

  1. Branding and Niching
  2. Content and Marketing

  1. Branding...

There are SO many task managers out there.

One thing you HAVE to do... niche the fuck right down.

Don't be a general task manager. Be the task manager *for *[Insert dedicated niche].

Seed Startups.
Indiehackers.
Content Marketers.

ANYTHING. Just make it specific.

(Even better if you know and understand the niche in-depth)

If you already have a highly functional task manager, you don't need to change it's features entirely to fit a niche. Just change the messaging.

Make sure on your homepage and throughout your branding, you are consistently reminding people who your product is for [insert niche].

I promise you it may hurt not being 'open' to every potential customer. But in the long run, you will thank me hahaha

  1. Content Marketing

Throughout your content, each piece should revolve around your [niche]

Here's how your Content Marketing workflow should go:
Pillar content/longform content --> Shortform content --> Micro/Social content

Use this as a reliable system to keep pumping out content. (See https://www.spreadtech.online/ for more details)

Repurpose and repackage your longform content into shortform content, and then that shortform content into micro/social content.

At each stage, distribution to multiple channels should also be key.

This is copied directly from the world's best content marketer, Gary V.

How does this practically work?

(I obviously don't know what content you create, but let's just imagine for a second)

You create a longform video.
10 minutes.
"Why procrastination is the biggest reason you won't succeed as a Founder."

(Niched and related to your product heavily).

You'll probably upload it to Youtube and call it a day... nahh not even scratching the surface yet...

At least upload to it HideoutTV, IGTV, Facebook Watch, too.

Then you use https://www.spreadtech.online/ to turn that video into a podcast.

Use the video's same title and description on the podcast too (if you want).

Upload that podcast to Spotify, itunes, Google podcasts etc etc etc

Use https://www.spreadtech.online/ to turn that same podcast into a blog post.

Upload that blog post to your own website (increases DR/SEO benefits), Medium, Indiehackers, hackernoon, Growthhackers, Quora, etc.

Now comes Shortform Content

Remember that video from earlier? Take some main points from that video and expand upon it, into 4 more videos.

Repeat all the above steps again.

MICRO CONTENT

Yeah still on the longform video...

Grab that video and cut out the most interesting parts. 15-60 seconds each.

Use tube2gram.com or soon Spread (https://www.spreadtech.online/) to cut out the video and auto-schedule to:

Instagram
FB
TikTok
Youtube Stories
Pinterest
etc

Now use Wavve or soon (https://www.spreadtech.online/) to cut out the best parts of the podcast you created, turning them into a video that is capable of being uploaded to Instagram, Pinterest, FB, Linkedin, etc.

Spread the scheduling out on these throughout the month/year.

Use the blog post to create a Twitter thread.

My favorite tool to do this is Hypefury. But this will be a main functionality in the https://www.spreadtech.online/ BETA.

Create a thread of the actual blog post
Schedule quotes from the blog post
Create mini threads from the blog post

RINSE AND REPEAT THE ABOVE AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. 🥵🥵🥵

Made Easy with Spead - https://www.spreadtech.online/

THAT IS HOW I WOULD BRAND USE CONTENT TO GROW-HACK A TASK MANAGER APP. BUT THIS CAN BE APPLIED TO ANY OVERSATURATED NICHE OUT THERE.

I'M SURE THIS WILL HELP YOU!!

BTW I don't actually use Task Manager Apps.

But if you do want to use any then shoutout to:

    @asosa16 with http://mytaskhero.com/

    and

    @Gshock with https://www.taskninjaservices.com/

Who both inspired this post :)

Louis, now that's what I call one interesting content advertisement for SpreadTech.

The only problem -- the content in your post is over-saturated with your product and links to your site, and if you try that content strategy out on the www, Google will slap you down hard -- eventually.

That said, the service of taking YT content and auto-repurposing it (with a high degree of accuracy) is interesting.

We repurpose content the exact same way, but we don't have a tool that helps automate it.

Hey Mike, thanks so much for your input mate!

I never go overboard on links or self-promotion normally, but I decided to experiment to see the results (whilst still creating highly valuable content)

It doesn't work as well as genuine content creation, but it still got you interested and signed up ;)

I would never use this on Google or anything, don't worry!

Thank you for your interest! If you don't mind me asking where do you create content for? E.g Podcast?

And how do you repurpose this content currently?

      1. 2

Each business entity I have (2 primarily) repurposes content similarly, but in a different order.

        ## Use Case 1 ##
We'll take a YT video, transcribe it, then use the transcription in an article (while embedding the video at the top of the article), and building out the article so that it contains more than just the transcription.

Then, we'll take the highlights of that article/video and do a 30-60 second highlight animated video, so viewers can get the gist of the info without reading the whole article or watching the entire original long-form video.

Of course we'll share the article and highlight vid on different social platforms.

You can do the exact same thing if the original content was audio/podcast vs a video.

        ## Use Case 2 ##
We'll take an article, have it narrated, and save it as an MP3. Then, will embed that MP3 into the article so people can listen if they prefer.

The MP3 will then be converted into a video and uploaded to YT, then embedded in different places.

        ## Use Case 3 (in the process of doing this now) ##
We'll take an article, have it narrated in a way that would be useful to create a Podcast episode. Then build out the podcast with other content (video or audio-only), that we'll take and convert back to written form.

I'd rather not include links to my sites in this post, because it would seem overly promotional in nature.

        1. 1

That is so helpful! Just what I wanted to hear...

All use cases are great, and I'm sure they are all working well for you. Use case 1 especially aligns with Spread - so that peaks my interest most.

What specific parts of these use cases would you want automated?

If you want any little tips on where else you can repurpose content to then let me know?

          1. 2

            Glad it's helpful info :)

I'm always interested in receiving tips on where to repurpose content too (outside of the typical social media places like Twitter, FB, IG, Tiktok, LinkedIn, Medium, site blog, etc.). Though, just because you post content on those platforms, doesn't mean it'll gain any traction on those platforms.

That said, happy to hear any/all suggestions -- cause you never know if you're missing an opportunity.

As for where I'd like to see some automation -- that's a tough one, because repurposing content has a ton of nuances that may be tough to automate.

            ## Audio/Video to Text ##
Going from audio/video to text isn't that hard. I've been using manual transcribers, because it gets me a very clean transcription, with me having to do very little editing (which is important).

It costs me about $10/each, but the video/audio can be up to 15-20 minutes long. I pay that amount even if it's a short video/audio, because it's a good value, and I appreciate the effort they put in to delivering a clean product.

            ## Audio to Video ##
Going from audio to video is a little trickier, because you have to find imagery for the video, decide if you want just one bg image with an audiogram, or if you want the video to be more like a slideshow, or want to embed video, or some other variant.

There's a couple tools I've used that make it somewhat easy to make a decent simple video from audio (bg image with audiogram), but it's still a little time consuming to get everything together the tool needs.

            ## Text to Blog ##
Now this one is super tough, cause you can just take a transcribed video and make it into a blog post. There's no value to the reader if that's all you do.

So, you have to build out the article with helpful content & images, taking into account on page SEO, and that usually takes someone who knows how to write.

            ## Article to Highlight Video ##
VERY tough because you have to write a script, and it has to be succinct. Once you have the script, the animation part is handed off to a good and reasonably priced animator (I use a team out of Romania who are really good). Regardless, there's still time involved.

            ## Content to Infographic or Imagery ##
Also tough because you have to layout everything very clear for the graphic designer.

I'm sure parts of the above can be automated, but then question is how much effort is to review, edit, etc. after?

            Happy to discuss further.

            1. 1

I love the detail you put into these comments. It's super helpful.

              Thank you so much.

So much of this and much more will be included in Spread (added to the timeline for this year).

              ---

Also here are (some) other places where you can repurpose your content to:

              Video;

TIKTOK (big one as you mentioned)
              HideoutTV (big one)
              Instagram stories, IGTV, and feed
              Snapchat
              Facebook Watch/stories/groups/page
              Youtube Stories
              Embedded into website
              Embedded onto blog

              Audio;

Turn into video and use on all the above
              Embedded onto blog
              All the different podcast players

              Text/blog;

              Your own website
              Medium
              Quora - relevant questions
              Social media captions
              Social media posts
              Social media quote pics
              Twitter thread
              Indiehackers - my favorite
              Related forums
              Reddit
              Hackernoon

              ---

Yes, I'm sure there will be nuances with automatically repurposing content. But if an £10-£20 a month web app can automate 95% of the entire work for you, are you really going to turn that down?

I am going to ensure Spread makes creating/repurposing content the most simples and shortest route possible. I promise you. The ideas I have for this web app are insane.

Give me time, and I'll ensure YOU have more content through Spread than what you ever thought was possible.

Let's keep in touch because you're great to bounce ideas off.

If you'd like you can send me some of your content channels/favorite pieces of content and I could help you repurpose for you? :)

                Sure, sounds great!

Can you email me at [email protected] and I can share some info with you offline?
