Hey indie hackers!
Recently I launched my own design agency Instantly.design after months of planning and designing a marketing website for it
Instantly.design is a UI/UX design partner/agency for founders and startups. We specialize in designing websites, web & mobile apps, design systems and branding
We choose the subscription pricing module, and we're currently charging $539/mo and we're planning to increase it as we get more clients and gain popularity
My goal right now is to scale to $10K MRR ($120K ARR), and my strategy is to build in public and make content on X (twitter) so I can attract clients, I also think I'll give Google ads a try.
Would love to hear your thoughts! 😎
I'm building my own Saas and I like to know opinion on idea and also website design from some professionals from the field. I don't have the option to share links that here is my website. (firmate io)
I launched my UI/UX Subscription agency 3 months ago. https://www.pentaclay.com
I started with a promotional trial package for $490/14 days.
I attracted a handful of clients to my package, but as I was offering a super cheap price I burnt out.
As demand increases, now I positioned my trial package of 14 days for $1090.
I'll raise the price if I burn out again.
One way to do it is increase the price or you could hire a designer to help you out on the workload
Workload isn't constant yet. Let me go into a more stable income stream.
Can you share your strategy
Make content on Twitter
Congratulations on launching Instantly.design, Hamza! It's inspiring to see your journey from planning to execution. Your focus on UI/UX design for startups and founders is a great niche, especially in today's digital-first environment. The subscription model at $539/mo sounds like a solid strategy, offering a predictable revenue stream. As you plan to scale to $10K MRR, building in public and leveraging platforms like Twitter for content creation and client attraction seems like a savvy move. It not only enhances visibility but also builds credibility and trust. Google Ads could be a valuable addition to your strategy, especially if targeted effectively to reach your ideal client base. It's exciting to see your journey unfold and I'm looking forward to seeing Instantly.design reach and surpass the $10K MRR milestone. Best of luck!
Am I the only one whose internal GPT-detector starts sounding when I read comments like this? If this wasn't generated by AI, apologies. ...But I'm seeing more and more comments on Indie Hackers that are suspiciously similar to what I've seen ChatGPT write. They just have a literary "voice" that is a giveaway.
Whenever I encounter the word "inspiring" I skip them.
Yup. This is straight out of chatgpt lol
Lol :)
Thank you!!!
Nice one..try Twitter or LinkedIn. Both work well for building in public
I focusing on twitter now!
Congrats on the launch of your agency. The website is really clean!
Building in public and making content on Twitter seems to work really well in these business models. However, I wonder if there is a faster way to gather 5-10 early customers?
Some ideas..
I would start by deciding what niche I am going to serve within the design world. Everyone wants design, but who NEEDs your design? Early days in the launch it's all about finding a good problem area so I would test that out. Find your ideal customers and most things fall into place from there.
Run free workshops, webinars or some sort of education series and make it consistent. I think building in public only works when people know you will post about it each week. If i was going to purchase a design subscription, I would me more inclined to buy from someone who taught me something so maybe try the webinar.
Sub-contract for a while. To get the revenue off the ground, how about you contact agencies who are super busy and offer them monthly services? Worth a shot and consistent income.
Looking forward to seeing where this goes 🚀🎉
Hey there Hamza! Who knew making money could be so indie? Keep hustling, cheers to $10K MRR! 🎉
Congratulations for the launch ! Your approach is very interesting and I am curious how fast you will reach your goals :)
How do you manage to find UI/UX designers in addition to the clients ? Like others already asked, do you already have your own team, are you alone or are you looking for UI/UX designers often ?
I'm currently the founder and the lead designer. But for complex projects I hire other freelancers
Congrats! And I believe you will achieve your goal in a short time :)
thanks!
You've done a great job of speaking directly about use cases that matter to your target audience. A person won't have to wonder if you're for them or not. Which is always a top line goal in marketing. Bravo!
Do you have a Team or are you alone?
Do you already have clients?
Yes
Well done Hamza, like the landing and the offering!
If I were you, I wouldn't add the layer of required call to be able to access your services: just add the Stripe checkout session straight away!
If people want to, always leave the option to book a call, but you'll be surprised, some people just want to get started FAST!
I know that because I'm working with 150+ productized services with my SaaS (https://breeew.com), in general, people don't mind paying for your service directly :)
Your strategy of building in public is the best one, keep it up!
I hope you achieve this milestone as soon as possible. Best of luck!
The subscription model is a smart move. Best of luck on reaching your $10K MRR goal!🚀
Yes, we love the module so much!
how do you plan to balance the increasing workload with maintaining the high quality of your UI/UX services, and what strategies do you have in place to ensure consistent client satisfaction when scaling up?
Right now we don't have lots of clients, but in the feature I think I'll hire designers.
Hamza, can you explain all the reasons you went with a subscription model over an hourly model? What does the subscription include, and what limits do you place on your services to ensure someone doesn't overwork you (and your freelancers)?
We loved the subscription module for many reasons, the main ones for us are the fact that we get payed upfront and revisions are no longer a problem since the client already payed.

I agree that paid ads could be a good avenue considering the lifetime value of a customer is really high for these businesses. Also Linkedin Ads could be a good shout, more expensive but a targeted audience 👀
