A few years back I made a script which would save rocket launches in my calendar so I could watch the livestreams. After thinking more about releasing my work into the wild lately I decided to make it available to the public and get some practice developing a landing page. The net result is Launch Cal (a working title).
I've added the link to the Google Calendar up first seeing as that's the primary action, but because I currently only support Google Calendar and not other formats for the full experience (it's a revival of a hobby project and landing page practice, not a full product). I've also added the ability further down the page to vote on one's favourite calendar application until I can conduct some proper market research - this because it gives me fewer reasons not to ship.
What do you all think of the UX and the layout? Is there anything I can add to improve it all? How about the email form? Other than notifying users when a new calendar format is supported and/or creating a mailing list, it has not real business being there.
Hi @tpaulin, I love this idea. The SpaceX launches are inspiring, and you're doing a great service by helping that inspiration to reach more people.
-From your website copy, I didn't know if you were talking about visiting the actual launch at Cape Canaveral or watching a video online. You may want to clarify.
-You users may be interested in different formats: a Google calendar, Google calendar event invitations (which is different from a complete calendar), email notifications, or something else. Personally, I wouldn't want a complete Google calendar, but I would be interested in watching a 2-minute highlight of the launch on YouTube a few hours after the fact. In fact, I often do that. So, if you had a YouTube channel that did a 2-minute summary of each launch, I would subscribe.
Good luck.
By the way, I'll share my website, SplashPad, in case it's useful to you. SplashPad helps you write about your product more effectively by suggesting language as you write. https://getsplashpad.com.
Subscribed :)
I think you can make the background image more visible, its a rocket launch, those things look epic.
I ran your site through my tool, found no issues, but you can see it looks a bit hard to see the actual rocket: https://app.pagewatch.dev/e3f89916652b33a9b1ce4fb193060b120b6625f8/dashboard
