During the pandemic, like many of us, I began experimenting with new creative tools. I was intrigued by the rapid evolution of text-to-speech and generative AI. But every time I tried to create high-quality voiceovers for content, I ran into:
Tools were either too limited, too expensive, or too clunky.
TTS quality was all over the place.
Experimenting was expensive with some sites starting at $30+ for basic plans
So I decided to build something better while trying to learn to build a business around a tool.
What started as weekend experiments stitching together TTS APIs quickly grew into Acoust AI, a platform designed to make high-quality, human-like speech synthesis accessible to anyone. Over time, it evolved from a simple voice generator to a multi-voice editor where creators can mix narration, background music, and cloned voices -- all in one place.
Today, Acoust AI powers voice content for educators, corporate trainers, creators, and teams who want to bring their content to life without a recording studio using GenAI Text-to-Speech.
Building the product was challenging, but growing it has been a different kind of challenge. Like many indie SaaS founders, I quickly discovered that “if you build it, they will come” doesn’t apply to SEO and organic traffic.
I spent countless nights writing blog posts, experimenting with keywords, tweaking landing pages, and trying to get backlinks, only to watch Google Analytics stay stubbornly flat. Paid ads can get traffic, but sustainable organic growth takes time, iteration, and patience. That said, I still enjoy the journey and will continue experiment and iterating. Onwards! 🚀
