How it started...

In 2013, the company I was working for closed, and I found myself without a job. For some time, my friend and former schoolmate, Duncan Wilcox, and I had been thinking about doing something together, so we took the opportunity to seriously start a project. But what? After many more or less convincing ideas, we asked ourselves: “What is the thing we hate doing most on the computer that we could try to make better?” Without hesitation, we both answered: writing HTML and CSS. So why not create a completely visual tool that would allow users to build beautiful and high-performing websites without needing to know any underlying technology, enabling them to focus solely on the creative and design aspects of a site? We worked for six months in Duncan’s garage, and on April 24, 2014, version 1.0 of Sparkle Visual Website Builder (today “Sitely”) was released on the Mac App Store.
