How it started: a VPN knowledge base that turned into something else

By September 2024 I had tried almost every commercial VPN solution on the market and was completely fed up with them . I switched to deploying my own VPN servers.
Even though I'm technical - it was a grind every time. Even with a script, something would go wrong and I'd have to fix it. At some point I thought: why not build a service where you pick a server in whatever location you need, grab a ready-made script, and just run it from the console.
I knew similar solutions existed, but I wanted to do it better:

The main idea was to make a VPN hub - so that a user who decided to get a server from us could conveniently do everything themselves and wouldn't need to crawl the internet for information, look through and compare guides on a dozen sites, and prompting a hallucinating AI 20 times only for it to say “oh, I forgot that there are thousands of constantly running bots on the internet that will constantly be trying to hack your server”.

By November I had assembled a team and we started discussing the vision and the possibilities of actually implementing this idea.
