How long did it take you to earn a 6-figure salary from your startup?

As someone considering making the leap from day job to startup (again), I'm curious how long it's taken folks to build their take home salary up to a 6-figure level.

Note: I'm referring here to your own personal take home salary, not your MRR/ARR or your companies revenue.

I think this could be a helpful perspective for those leaving well-paying jobs on how much runway they generally will need.

You said, “Again” can you tell us what happen with your last startup?

Happy to share. With my last startup (https://RockMyRun.com) I went the more traditional equity funding route - raised $2M but still took about 18 months before I was able to take a salary.

The company is still going, though I'm no longer the CEO. Ended up burning out after 6+ years. I wanted to sell but investors thought with more work the valuation could get higher. I'm still on the board but not in an operational role.

It's been quite the rollercoaster :)

Good question! I was curious so dug up some old financial reports. We were at $40k MRR, growing 15-20% MoM. At this point we had raised ~$630k from angels.

I'd be curious where others who answered the poll were as well.
