How long did it take you to get to your first 100, 500 and 1k users?
by
Wyatt Feaster
Let people know the reality of getting customers and how many of those are paid customers?
We have been compiling this data at Founder beats for every interview - "How long did it take you to acquire your first 50 customers, and what was your growth strategy?"
Sweet Iโll take a look!
It took me 1 month to get active 200 users... Mostly from Reddit, I started creating valuable posts and engaging with replies, four months before deploying.
That sounds cool. Would you mind sharing more details and the process? TIA _/\ _
The project was about productivity, First, I found some subreddits where my audience hang around and then I started to post every Friday without links. Also, engage with them with valuable replies that can really help them. I did this for like every day spending less than one hour on this.
The first two weeks were like a total mess, There were sometimes I thought I should stop this, it is not a fast process, etc. but now I think that one month was the best day to get more ideas and get users.
You should also remember there are a ton of marketers out there only to get them to purchase and separating them is important, to find them you just need to check their karma points and joined date.
Note: Reaching out to the audience was my specialty. I tried to connect with them very fast with my wall breaker convo...
Thank is super helpful thank you! I am noticing after getting into online communities how much time it actually takes to engage with people.
ikr, and having a community is so essential for growth nowadays!
Thanks for taking time to detail this out. Much appreciated.
I think I'm missing out on a lot by not being on Reddit. Time to change this!
Let me know when you create an account, I will follow you:)
Thank you. The account's already there: https://www.reddit.com/user/shankar_shethe

I got to 300 users in a month :D just from posting on redit
How did you manage this with Reddit being so strict on posting and rules within the communities?
zero paid. hard to say how many would have as stripe paused me
Why does stripe pause you from receiving payments ;)?
I just take a look at the data of our Moolight App.
It launched on Jan 1, 2023.
On Jan 29, it reached its first 100 users. Partially accelerated because it is selected as Weekly Editor's Pick by the end of Jan.
On about April 24, it reached its 500 users. Partially accelerated because it is selected as App of the Month by Apple on March.
On about July 10. It reached its 1000 users. Hope those data helps.
