Curious, what did you choose for your MVP development, and how long did it take? What's it normally takes to develop one?
It depends on the product. But I think, and what I hear from most rockstar bootstrappers is to pick ideas that can be built in max 1-2 months, ideally few weeks.
Goal is to iterate through many ideas and see which one works best.
I recommend Daniel Vassallo's intro video on his Small Bets course. Even in the free intro video he gives so much valuable info.

I think that's a highly subjective answer for every product. My product ruttl took around 4 months for the MVP development as our engineering needed lot of brainstorming and backend work.
But that being said, there are always ways in which you can deploy just one main feature using no code apps and push it quickly for validating your idea.
Well I will give you my range:
If you have some skills, IMO it really comes down to what you set your goals to. Challenge yourself to do it in a weekend, you will have something in a weekend (or you learned something). Say that it is mostly for personal use and polish it until you really like it, well, plan months to years. Both can be a valid approach, depending what you want to get out of it.
We built the initial version of our WP plugin in one month. There are two of us, and we basically worked a 9-5 on it for that month to get it ready for launch.
We probably could have launched with less, but I'm not really a fan of MVPs that require the customer to imagine what it could be. I think it has to be substantive on its own.
When building the MVP for https://www.vitaely.me:
Starting build to product hunt launch took around a month and a half
Hi,
we were working on ERA - The Markdown Note-Taking Tool For Developers for like 5-6 months before we released the first MVP.
We developed everything on our own - and still doing it the same way.
After the release we may look into hiring some additional developers.
mine has taken 6 months, but thats also because we are building two products at once, and we have three kids!
90 minutes including the landing page
If you are looking for a super micro MVP, we are making free MVPs over at ThriftMVP for startup types that we haven't built MVPs yet!
It depends how much polish you want for it, but it can range from days to months. But shipping constantly to gather feedback and updating it is probably ideal.
Took about 3 days to cobble together the frontend and the API backend for https://brisktrends.com. I used a tailwind page builder called https://chaibuilder.com/ and fastapi for the API endpoints.
we were a group of 4 people
3 developers and one designer it took us 10 days thats the final result https://criov.com/ which means as a solo 1 month is really enough never waste time on MVP its an MVP at the end
For https://iwilldrawyouadinosaur.com/ it took 2 days. One to make sure I had my painting process down, (previous skills acquired over years) and then 1 day to make the site.
For my next project it is taking about 30 days working on it on the side.
Our TestMan MVP development time was 3-4 weeks. Here you can read about our chosen stack: https://www.indiehackers.com/product/testman/tech-stack-of-our-saas-project--NDI59DmCeKQJ2V7HnIA
Solid stuff. Thanks for sharing. 3-4 weeks sounds like enough to implement only a few major features.
