How many domain names do you own?

I am curious... I am addicted to getting new domain names. How many domain names do you own? What's your favorite one out of all?

  1. 1

The one I like more is the one that spells my fist name: eduar.do

  2. 1

Like a dozen, but my favorite out of all is marketical.com.

Over a dozen... I used to own more but let go off the habit of buying and domains over the years. My favorites:

    1. Engage360.com (.com!) - just in case I want to pivot BigMailer.io into a marketing platform
    2. BinaryType.com (also .net and .org) - clever name (inspired by "There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who don't") that can be used for a personal blog (when I find time) or a software company with a suite of products. Programmers, gimme some love - cool name or not as cool as I think?
    3. CaffeineFree.org and CaffeineFree.org - I used to run content site that I shut down because I didn't have time to update. One day I am going to start a non-profit and make companies improve their practices around selling caffeinated products (like make that "Decaf" text on Starbucks labels stand out more to avoid mistakes) or have all vendors offer (or at least stock) decaf option after certain time of the day or when young customers are buying (like teenagers getting sugar loaded drinks with caffeine they don't need). Sorry for too much info!

P.S. I submitted an article to IH on re-branding where I share tips on finding great domains. Keep an eye out for it if you consider domain ownership a biz opportunity.

No wonder it’s so hard to find a good domain

Got like 10-15 domains and utilized few and remaining few put on sale, which mentioned below. All these are my favourites but i am already into several things and not able work on it right now.

Zeelance.com - For remote work or freelance
    Techblaze.org - Tech Blog
Esportsr.com - Future purpose, epsports blog or shop
Stylehandy.com - Fashion blog or video reviews
Hirely.in - HR or Hiring platform

I think somewhere in the 20 - 30 range right now but at one point close to 50. I've been better at stepping back and asking if I'll really have time to make the product for a domain before I purchase it.

    My favorites right now are:

    • strands.io: maybe a writing focused app but there plenty of things to do with a one word io domain
    • why.dev: could be a cool development oriented blog or something, we'll see if I hold onto it for the renewal price haha
    • treps.io: i originally bought it for my product Thought Reps but also learned that it can be short for entrepreneur so maybe there is something there

A decent amount. I try to resist, but like @agilejoshua I usually end up getting a new one every time I have a new idea. I've been so proud of myself this year though, I only registered one new domain. I've been slowly culling older ones that I haven't actually used as well. I'm down from about 80 to 45 now. My favourite is my newest one, https://autopilot.host - this one got through to MVP for totally managed WordPress hosting (ie, hands-on plugin and theme installation, updates and support for as long as a site is hosted with us) and has just launched a website. That isn't why it's my favourite though, I just love the name! It really articulates what the product is, hosting that essentially puts website maintenance on autopilot so clients never have to worry about doing updates, about things breaking, about malware infections and remediation etc etc.

Nice. I love the name! I know, it’s hard for me to buy new domain names whenever I have an idea too.

Thanks! I've been trying to be more selective and restrained when it comes to my ideas and doing anything with them.

Soooo many over 500, every time I think of a new product I try to get a domain for it - totally addicted. My favourite is https://crashcourse.academy (developer crash courses, no nonsense).

thats a ton! do you buy them for longer periods at a time? I just feel like I would constantly have domains up for renewal. Gets expensive!

When you have many domains you get a lower price for bulk renewals, but yes domains are always up for renewal. I wouldn't recommend managing hundreds of domains. Most are on 1 year auto renewal and they don't require any work from me. Gandi and godaddy support bulk settings updates to make things easier.

what I'm hearing is I should be buying even more domains ;D
lol that's good to know though!

    2. 1

      500?! Okay that’s a lot! Also, crashcourse.academy is a great domain.
