How many hours a week do you spend on your side project?
It's the resolution time of the year. In that spirit, I think it would be interesting to reflect on the amount of time we are giving our side project(s). For our purposes, a "side project" is something that you work on that is (or will be🤞) be contributing income in addition to your main source of income. Possibly replacing it.
Oh man, I used to spend 20+ hours and it was a nightmare.
Then I started tracking my time and bucketing activities and realized I spent a lot of time on things that weren't making much of a difference and weren't growing my business.
Now I spend around an hour/day on average and am much more focused on the work I do, and it really has made all the difference. Of course, when I finally make the jump to it full time that will probably increase to a 30-40hr workweek :)

I think it's all work. Any time spent thinking/acting on it should be counted. I think work looks different to indie hackers than employees. If an employee works more than 40 hours/week, then they feel like they put in too much work. An indie hacker might spend all waking hours on their project and not think anything of it.

Again: everything you‘d bill a client for (should be considered work on your own project).
That does not imply at all to exchange time for money proportionally.
Your response shows me you‘re one of these „bros“ just learning all these cool ideas some gurus sell as a „secret“, which is obvious to most people.
Good luck though. And thanks for your groundbreaking advice in a forum, that is all about building SaaS, hence scalable, not „exchange money for time“ businesses.

This is all things I would consider work on my project, because I would bill a client for that as well. It is not that complicated (for average minds).
Nobody here said you should exchange your time for money, nobody talked about funding…
It doesn‘t even make sense that you think I have said that…
But obviously you‘re limited.
