Either on your job or on your product(s) or both :) I'm curious to see how many hours people usually put in per day.
Really depends. I work for myself, generally start work around 9 or so, some days 9:30 or 10, if I go work out in the morning. Usually grind until around 6-7 or so, take a break for a couple hours, then often grind again from 8:30 to 10:30 or so.
During the daytime hours, I probably spend 4-5ish hours on client work on a given day, and the rest is personal stuff. At least once a week (usually Wednesday), I wrap it up by 3:30 and go play golf.
On average, probably comes out at 8-10 hours a day or so, but can definitely vary. Some days might be 3, others might be 13, just depends on where my head is at.
I'm generally pretty good about just calling it when it's clear that I can't think straight anymore, and good about continuing to grind as hard as I can when I'm really in the groove.
Thanks so much for your input. The break between the two work periods makes sense to me as well as I need to have a few hours to myself before I can jump in to working on my product.
After 15 years of developing websites for clients I do 6-7 hours now (freelancing). I have not started any product yet but i believe when that happens i will do more.
Did you use to do more than that?
Very rarely but sometimes there is urgent work and i make 10-12 hours.
