How many IH rely on community feedback for new features?

I have been managing different communities for the past 6-7 years and participated hundreds of free and paid communities and have found that there are usually two very opposite approaches when it comes to building your startup based on community feedback:

• Being 90% driven by it and creating what users SAY they want

• Being about 10% driven by user feedback and building what YOU want or think they need

I have come to learn the upsides and the downsides of both models first hand and if you are an IH considering leveraging community when building, happy to help in the comments.

This post is more designed as a question to see where most IH nowadays land between the above two opposites?
