My target market is college professors. It's a bit of a challenge to market to this niche. I've reached out to some professors I know and got listed in a couple software directories this week. I was planning to present at edtech conferences but then covid happened Any additional ideas would be appreciated.

I agree with all the points ethan has mentioned. The first step is to overboard, then easily feed them into it. No need to scare them away in an instant. Slowly one by one. Also, good work on trying this thing out, one less regret to have in after life.

        Thanks for your response!

Not in relation to marketing but you have a lot of work to do on your landing page. It's extremely hard to work out exactly what the product is. My first reaction when opening the website is to close the tab.

Here are some screenshots of some visual problems:

While it's good to have lots of information available on your product, the landing page isn't the right place for it. It should be clean and easily understandable.

I made a number of changes. Any additional feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Oh wow! I had just made those image changes and had to refresh my cache before seeing them. I've got the two image/sizing issues fixed.

Thank you very much for your feedback!!!

I'm currently just getting started on promoting DevInsight (getdevinsight.com) and so far not getting a lot of response when I post it on social.

I think the flaw with my approach might be that it is quite a business focused product and therefore doesn't resonate well on social media. Places like reddit, facebook, twitter don't really connect with the concept. That or perhaps I need to learn a bit more about how to promote on those platforms.

I'm currently planning on connecting directly with people via my network and places like LinkedIn as I believe that is more targeted to DevInsights functionality.

The great part about all this is that everything can be seen as an experiment and altered accordingly. If an approach fails there is still loads to learn from how & why it failed. Iterate, evolve and try again :)

One reason you might not be getting a lot of response is because your landing page assumes more information that your visitors have. Specifically (and a little harshly): I don't know why I'm supposed to care.

Your landing page tells me all about what your product does, but it doesn't tell me why I should care! What's the point of understanding my development team? Will they write code 10% faster? Will I save x hours of management each week? Etc.

You know these things, because you made this, but you have to make it very plain to your visitors, who might be arriving in a very low-information state. The #1 thing your hero section should do is hook them in with a claim about the benefits of your service, so that they want to scroll down and read more about the features. In other words, sell me on the Why before you tell me about the How.

Dan, thank you for some great feedback. I'm aware of how important highlighting the benefits are but as you say, I'm just so close to the product I completely overlooked that they might not be immediately obvious!

This is great, actionable feedback that I'm going to work on now. Thanks again

I agree with all the points dan has mentioned, many people just close the tab on the landing page, that is a make or break deal.

Having said that and all the platforms you have tried on, i would recommend you focus on one platform and let that platform be Youtube. I say this because that is your best choice of discoverability, plus there IS AN AUDIENCE, you just need to give out tips and your expertise and develop credibility/trust.

For Example, check out "Slidebeans", you will be so glad you did it.

Thanks for sharing that channel, looks really interesting! I hadn't seriously considered Youtube as a platform for DevInsight but I may look into more now.

this is some serious security stuff, have you raised any capital?

      1. 1

Not yet. I'm in stage validation and trying to balance my time (e.g studying & working).

I'm assuming you like the product?

        1. 1

I kinda do but despite that, I would be very skeptical about its security, I wouldn't use it.
