We talk about products and brands here.
Recently I am thinking that the most important brand could be our individual selves.
Think of IH or PH. If you are a relatively better known person, or you have some good references, you have an advantage at the start. You can immediately launch your product to a couple hundred people only by tweeting or a simple post.
"Online presence" of me as a person, is bringing a lot of traffic to my products like https://read15minsaday.com recently.
So I am thinking about approaching "myself" as one of my products.
What do you think?
I feel like the best thing to do is be yourself and be a real person, and don't be afraid to show your flaws. If you express flaws, you have to show you're working on them or accepted them and know what you need to work around them. Turn them into a positive like Kristin Bell and depression. All we are is the story we tell ourselves and others. Those stories need to be in alignment though.
Maybe be a better version of yourself, wherein you are more optimistic and positive, or more balanced in life, or exercise everyday, eat the best foods you can, always eat a salad before ice cream, only drink 1 beer a week/night but not alone. Eventually you become the embodiment of that story.
Also, no matter how many things we work on, think of them as maintaining vs accomplished. Like reading 15 mins a day. You may be able to turn it into a habit but when life gets rough or busy we need to remind ourselves to take care of ourselves and our needs first in order to take care of others and life struggles.
People aren't buying your product, they're buying the idea of their better selves. Show what you're reading, what you've read, and why/how reading has changed your life. Also show the struggles you've had or continue to have. Ask others do the same.
Yes, I agree all you are saying.
But what I mean was more about, approaching yourself as a product. Like here on Indiehackers for example, defining yourself as a product. Setting milestones like "appeared as a guest on a podcast", "reached 500 twitter followers", "launched 4th product this year".
What do you think about that?
Those are important factors to follow but that all sounds like marketing. Important to have those things planned out as well.
Love the timer feature of your site! A great way to easily track progress.
Thank you so much! I am actually building on top of that.
What would you think, if you could pause that timer, and read that 15 minutes not all at once but in a few phases during the day?
How about, keep going after 15 minutes if you feel like it?
And how about, taking a sentence or two as a note about what you read? this would help you really absorb what you read, and you can always go back and take a look at those notes!!
