Genuine question.
I went through my sent folder yesterday and counted every email that never got a reply. Not cold outreach - proposals, invoices, follow-ups to people I'm actively working with.
42%. Almost a third of my important emails got zero response.
I honestly expected 10-15%. Seeing the real number was uncomfortable. Some of those were proposals I spent hours writing. A few were invoices for work I already delivered.
The worst part is I don't know how many of those I actually followed up on. I suspect less than half. The rest just quietly died in my inbox while I moved on to other things.
It made me wonder how much work I've lost over the years just because I didn't send a second email.
Anyone else ever counted theirs? Curious if 42% is normal or if I need to seriously rethink how I handle outbound emails.
