By pure luck and without any optimization on my part I had 1440 hits in the last 28 days according to Google Search Console and 1730 total visits including other search engines.
Just because someone created a new game with the exact same name with a gigantic marketing campaign behind it. 🤔

Are people distinguishing between actual search engine optimization (E.g. writing an article on a niche topic to get traffic) vs someone googling your company by name?
We got 49,000 users this month from Google.
Hardly any.. younglingfeynman.com content is def not SEO optimized. It's all WOM and my core audience.

All these numbers are very inspiring! Forgive my noob question: how long after launching a new site/blog should one expect to start seeing steady inbound traffic from SEO?
thats 100% dependent on how good your seo skills are. pretty quickly if youre good (weeks-months). not so quick if your site isnt really optimized (months-years)
SEO is a pretty long game, if you are starting from scratch it will definitely take longer than weeks to get steady traffic from search.
It's about optimizing your site first so you can clean up your existing content, and then setting up a steady stream of new content to build up expertise and authority which takes time and is well worth the effort (though you know this, just adding for the previous commenter's benefit).

Sort of, I operate in B2C. Had only ad revenue early on, then realized it was garbage and switched to a paywall. So it's a balancing act of giving enough free content to have a showing in SERPs while still generating subscribers.
Do you mind sharing your site? How have you found users reacted to adding the paywall vs. ads?

Most of my traffic is direct through social and newsletter. As of late, I've had 192 impressions from SEO. I am still learning the ropes with building SEO driven content.

so naturally when i optimize for those 10 articles i am optimizing 80% of the channel

yes i made sure the top 10 pages all cover 5G technology. That's what the client wanted

I did some SEO work, but not a lot. I am in the analytics space so the competition is really high. I am planning to do more content marketing to increase SEO traffic as it's one of the easiest way to get relevant traffic and also provide value.
ah man, who are you dealing with competition wise?
Google Analytics, Matomo, Hotjar, Mouseflow, Lucky Orange, Clicktale, Crazy Egg, Smartlook, LiveSession, Mixpanel and more.
I am only worried about seo and marketing, as product-wise I know my product and offer is way better than the alternatives.
seo and content wise, you could stand to bring in a lot of people interested in your product by writing content for analytics search terms in the search engines. theres some specific niches right now where you can just walk in and take over all the traffic - you do this by saturating that niche with your content to become a thought leader in that part of the search engine.

I do plan to make content marketing. That being said, writing all those SEO blog-posts usually feels spammy and doesn't provide a lot of value (for the user). Plus, the competitors already have dedicated teams writing those kinds of articles, so I would still compete with them.
let me challenge that for a sec: what IF you you provided a ton of value for the user by doing that? in my viewpoint by doing this, youre treating the search engine results page for a particular keyphrase like an extension of your website.

I think it's really hard to provide value and answer a question that hasn't been well answered before on another top-ranking site. That being said, currently it's only me working on the project, and to provide high value content you need to spend a lot of time writing it, time which I would rather invest in the product at this point.

I put SongBox into Ahrefs and you have 14,389 backlinks with 45 unique domains and have a domain authority of 26 which is awesome with 0 SEO. I think you can do incredible with 2-3 keyword-oriented blog posts a month :)

No problem! I think this is an actual case study which proves that if you are good at what you do, people will link your product and you will have a good amount of backlinks.
