How much do you charge for a small productivity product?
Hey everyone, I've been thinking about pricing lately and I see people charging a wide range.
I'm building a productivity / time management tool for individuals and I dont know if it would make more sense to charge $1 a month ($12 a year) or $4 a month ($48 a year).
How do you all decide on pricing for your product?
For this kind of product, I'd probably go for a one-time payment and offer new versions once a year. A subscription is a hard sell.
Ok yeah, I've also seen products that start off with a one-time payment and transition into subscription once they have more features.

Why are you building another such tool?
If your answer to that question is in some way comparing to other tools, your pricing structure is bounded by theirs. The only exception is if you are offering massive added value to the user and can easily convince them of the added value.
Thanks. I like the idea of thinking of creating a new definition for a product, instead of comparing it to other existing tools!
Personally I would have trouble justify $4 a month for personal productivity tool. I might be able to justify $48 as a single payment for example though.
Who is your target audience? People from U.S. might be able to pay more than people from the rest of the world.

Mostly just Trello + standard GNOME apps like To Do.
