How much do you rely on Paypal?

Paypal becomes notorious when comes to large transactions.
With limited options in hand, how could you manage this when your whole business is based on this mode of transaction.

I've seen people complaining, that it holds their 1000's of dollars.

What do you suggest a newbie who has no other option to receive funds overseas? How did you overcome this problem?

If I sell a book for 10-15$ and suppose on a particular day if sales go in hundreds or thousands, what could be the PayPal reaction to it?

I've been accepting PayPal at my businesses for 15 years and never had them hold one single payment other than a few disputes for refunds.

I also prefer to pay using PayPal because it saves me from having to enter credit card information and I know my purchase is protected.

I know I've seen others complain they are holding payments so maybe I'm lucky?

Glad to hear that. So it's safe to receive hundreds of transactions on a day.

Yes, as long as what you are selling is legal you shouldn't have any issues.

Some countries do not have a choice. This is especially true for the Caribbean region such as Barbados and Trinidad. Banks are notoriously slow and are not adaptive enough for the startup eco-system. The bank fees are high and are generated through a blackbox approach. Paypal is the quickest way to start accepting payment. Though there are some solutions that are promising to handle payment processing locally (https://wipaycaribbean.com/). To have a general idea of the process check this guy's link out as he describe the process in Barbados.
