How much does the hunter matter on PH?

I'm going to launch Job Board Fire 2.0 soon, and I don't have a following myself.

Should I try to find a popular hunter?

The problem is I don't have a relationship with anyone like that so I would have to do cold outreach, inconvenience a bunch of people, and come off as spammy.

What would you do?

I posted mydigitaloffice.io myself, it had no views for a few days then a PH admin reposted it. I think they are really diligent at checking submitted sites. It still would have helped to have a full strategy: get a few hundred friend likes, advertise that we were launching on PH, etc. If we did we may have been #2 or #1 for the day rather than #7 :)

Well if your post is not manually featured by one of the community admins, it will remain in the "Newest" section and will never make it to the front page.

In other words, not a lot of people will get to see it. It doesn't even matter how many upvotes you receive from your other channels, although that might help in getting it noticed by said admins.

Some of the top hunters have the power to post directly to the front page. So it can make a huge difference. However, if your product is great, you shouldn't fear to post it with your account as it is likely to get noticed.

I thought you move from newest to popular automatically based off of upvotes... Do you have a source for the popular page requiring manual addition?

You can check the newest section on any given day. If a post says "Posted on.." as opposed to "Featured on.." it was not picked for the front page. You will often find posts that have more upvotes yet haven't been featured.

Hey Suren, the only real upside of a popular hunter is the notification the followers will get.
I was in the same situation as you, and decided to hunt myself (got 550+ on the last project).
So I don't think you need a popular hunter, but simply some good-looking content and maybe a email list to blast the initial upvotes. Good luck!
    Nice site btw! :)

Yeah, but notifying a bunch of people seems really good!

I think I'll message a few potential hunters first but won't invest too much time into finding someone.

      And thank you :)
