Will be launching a new analytics tool for blogger soon and would like to run some FB ads. How much should I be spending per month to start with? Or should I not run ads at all?
If you can afford to, definitely run ads.
Let me offer two perspectives:
Firstly, ads are not just about selling stuff. They're about figuring out what marketing messages are effective. This is key when you're staring a new product
It's far far easier to test-drive 50x USPs on Facebook ads than it is to create 50x landing pages on your website. Therefore this category of spend on ads should reflect the value you put on honing your marketing message. A good message will have 10x conversion rate of a bad one.
Secondly, and more classically, i.e. ads used for selling directly, your spend should be based on return on costs. If a sale is worth $100, then it could be worth spending (e.g.) $50 on ads to get that sale. Figure out the exact numbers by looking at your CPC and on-site conversion rates.
Thanks for the tips about testing messaging. I should really do more of that.
FB Ads is great to scale something that’s already working. Using it to test a product is dangerous and can lead to bad decisions because there are too many variables at play: your funnel, your creative, your landing page, etc.
I'm more than agree with you.
However, in my opinion, and in some cases, FB ads can be also used to validate (or not) a product and marketing fit. Yes, it's burning money, because in that case, the goal is not to grow but to see how you grow.
For example, spending 1k $ in FB ads to reach blogger users to offer a product, and seeing a good rate of click/signup is a good signal.
But if after 1k$, there is a low rate of click and signup, it' also giving a signal (no market, bad creative...)
My technique is mainly doing one day, one dollar ads and then after 2 weeks see which ones perform best and boost that.

I'm reading the comments here and I'm really starting to wonder if anyone in this thread has done paid advertising. I've ran some very high profit campaigns, and bar non if you are not running paid ads you are literally losing money. Out of the 7 millionaires I know they all did it -- my broke friends never did. The truth is it works, if you know the 4-5 well guarded secrets things that make it work.
Would you like a run down on FB ads? We could do a short call ill tell you what you need to know, I'll find time in my schedule

Hi Delight, I would be interested in a run down on FB ads, if it is available to everyone 😁. I know the theory but how I need to set it up correctly. Are you on any other platform? Unfortunately don’t have discord
Rule number 1. If someone says they have secret for X. Run a mile. If someone say reach me on X run 26miles.

While FB ads may give a real boost to your product, you may wanna find out the right audience who might actually be interested in whatever you're offering.
If I were you, I will create a buyer persona of my customer and start working on text & video content for that persona.
Once you have that relevant content to push to your target audience, run FB ads with medium to broad targeting to read your content and from there you can naturally funnel them to use your product.
Promoting content (instead of the product) will get you a better CPC for creating awareness around your product.
Now, you can retarget all those people who had shown interest in your product on FB through remarketing channels.
Hope this helps.
Hi, I would recommend to start from content marketing and then focus to spend on Facebook Ads. Most important would be you can find Facebook Groups about Bloggers and start to post about your tools there. Also, try to lear growth marketing for the future, it will be a good strategy to advertise your tool. If still ads then you can start from 20 - 30 USD with very detailed targeting and make sure to optimize on conversions
I would recommend starting with a small amount that you are comfortable losing - a few bucks per day.
Once you get your first couple of signups via the ads, you'll have a better idea of which ads work and then you can start to scale up.
Although you may find that none of them are working, and you have to change the messaging – which is why you don't want to blow a tonne of money early on trying to figure this out.
When you're confident that you can spend $1 a make a $2 then you can scale them up as quickly as you're comfortable with.
This is a good question @eithan98. I would recommend doing as much organic marketing as possible in the early stages before putting money behind ads. Have you already got people using your analytics tools and have you already kickstarted an iteration feedback loop with them? If not, I think you are best to focus on organically getting your product in the hands of as many 'ideal customers' as possible and get as much feedback as possible from them. You can then understand the features of your analytics tool that they enjoy and you can prioritize the ones you should refine moving forward.
Once you have refined your product with all this initial feedback, I think dropping money on ads will yield a much better ROI than doing it from the start. Just my 2 cents. Let me know if I can help in any way.
Hey why not try going organic first? There are loads of bloggers Facebook groups where you can provide value for free and pitch slowly. I have other ideas too if you wanna know
Have you tried doing it without FB ads?
With content and so on I mean..
i dont do it. not fit for my product. but i have seen loads (like loads) of people doing it and its successful too.
