How my co-founder wrote a ~1500 word blog post in under 30 minutes

My co-founder of ContentForge (@allandewit) keeps surprising me. Yesterday he wrote this fantastic ~1500 word blog post in under 30 minutes using our own product.

How did he do it?

Well, it's simpler than you might think.

He used our own product ContentForge, a tool to help copywriters (or indiehackers) overcome writer's block using AI.

ContentForge has 2 main features. Tools and Documents. With Tools, you can generate small pieces of specific content. Think of product descriptions, blog post ideas, and meta descriptions. With Documents, you can write long-form content with AI assistance.

Step by step

Here's what Allan did.

  1. He generated an idea with the Blog Post Idea Tool
  2. He created a Document with our setup wizard:
    • Gave a description of the Document (inserted the results from the Tool)
    • Generated a Blog Post Title
    • Generated a Blog Post Outline (a list of sections/headings + a conclusion)
  3. With the initial setup of the Document completed he then used the AI to generate an introductory paragraph based on the title of the Document
  4. For each heading in the Document he used the AI to initiate a paragraph of text. If for some reason he didn't like the paragraph he'd rewrite it or nudge the content in a certain direction. Since the AI uses the Document as the context it would pick up on these nudges and write about what Allan wanted it to write about.
  5. Finally, he sent the article to me, I proofread it and published it on our blog

Conclusion

Our own product has enabled us to write content at a very fast pace. Not only does AI (or specifically ContentForge) help you write content, but it also significantly increases your productivity.

Other than having created an amazing article in 30 minutes we are also dogfooding our own product. This enables us to improve ContentForge for all our users.
