How my Shopify App got approved within Two Weeks: Tips and Thoughts

I believe one of the biggest barriers to entry to building Shopify app's is the rigorous review process that Shopify has. I often found myself asking the question, what if I work on an app for all these months but never make it passed their review? Will it be a waste of time? Here is how I prepared myself and https://rewardify.app approved quickly.

  1. Read the Shopify App documentation before building your app
I know it's exciting to just start building and figure the details out later, but I warn you, Shopify has a high standard for apps, from how OAuth is handled to even some of the design details your app has. Take the time and prepare yourself to understand their requirements. This documentation helped clarify the requirements and testing before hand: https://shopify.dev/apps/store/review/testing

  2. Use multiple Shopify Development stores with different scenarios
Make sure to test your app on multiple themes (if reliant on themes) and with different amounts of customers and orders. The more you use your app, the smaller amount of bugs you'll find, which means, Shopify reviewers will find even less.

  3. Take your time writing content for your Shopify Listing
At this point, it likely means you're getting really close to submitting your app for review. I highly suggest taking the time to write well thought content to support your app. The reviewers will read this content to help them understand what the app does. Additionally, after the app is approved, it instantly goes live and available for merchants to use.

  4. Have a couple light / open weeks when submitting your app
Shopify app reviews seem to have three stages. An automated review, an OAuth and install review, and third, a more functional technical review. Shopify will provide feedback quickly and sometimes it's a lot to tackle. They often give you a two week window to address the feedback or you will have to go through the entire process again. Be ready to review, replicate and address any bugs they find when testing your app.

  5. Stay positive and enjoy the free quality assurance
As I said above, Shopify has a high standards for apps on their Marketplace. With this intense review process, they often catch bugs you've never experienced. Don't get defeated, just look at how much better your app will be when it is approved.

I know this is pretty high-level, but I felt taking this approach helped me be successful in getting https://rewardify.app listed on the marketplace. I hope it helps someone else building their business.
