How my wife’s trip made me make my first dollars online

In the summer of 2022, my wife decided to go on a trip to visit a friend in the south of France.

Although I would have liked to join her, I had a lot of work and couldn't afford to be away for that long.

So I decided to stay at home and take advantage of that time to do things that I normally don't have time for.

To plan my activities and places to be during that month, I started using Notion to create a database of plans and events. But as I kept adding more and more information, I realized it was difficult to have an overview of everything on a single page.

So I decided to link my Notion database to my Google Calendar to be able to see my plans in a more visual and easy-to-use format. But when I started sharing my plans with my friends, I realized it could also be useful for them to have access to a shared calendar with all our hangouts and activities.

This is how NotionToCalendar.com was born, a service that allows you to transform Notion databases into calendars that can be used in Google Calendar or on iOS devices. Since then, I have been using NotionToCalendar.com to organize my 2023 vacations, track my travels and organize my projects.

With NotionToCalendar.com, I have been able to keep all my important information in one place and access it easily from anywhere.

It has definitely been a very useful tool for me and my friends!

I learned the importance of scratching my own itch first hand when I created Notion To Calendar.

Little did I know that this small project I created for myself would also be useful for my friends. It has been a great reminder that when you are faced with a challenge, you can use that opportunity to create something that can help others too.

You never know what project could turn out to be a useful tool for many people!

This is pretty cool. Last night I was thinking about whether or not people would find it useful to receive texts while traveling suggesting what they do that day. For example, 8am get a text to suggest 3 coffee shops near your Airbnb, noon get a text to suggest the best lunch spots near wherever you're walking, afternoon get a text to a wine shop, night get a text to go to a comedy show. It'd be your idea of Notion to Calendar (text), but maybe also auto recommendations based on popular places in the city, or what other people have liked.
