    Preserving mental health is greatly related to your motivation. If it's extrinsic – ego, money, etc. – you are more likely to push yourself into an unhealthy zone. Intrinsic motivation – expressing your values + enjoying the actual process of building – is much more sustainable in the long term. Shifting to intrinsic motivation takes becoming clear on your values and focusing more on the process.
