How often do you come up with an idea that's not already taken ?
Just now, i came across a picture that gave me a very simple app idea. I thought "But of course this already exists" and searched Product hunt. But it doesn't and i'm going crazy about it. I still can't believe it and you wouldn't either. I don't want to reveal it because i need to up-skill to build the app as it requires animations and someone else would definitely ship it before me.
How often does this happen with you ?

There is a lack of creativity in the world today .
No one wants to be 1st..everyone plays it safe with niche markets , idea validation , test landing pages and blah , blah , blah
However..the fact of the matter is..someone has to be 1st..to take the risk..there's still lots of work for you to do..
and if you can't build it yourself..then hire someone to do it for you

Has happened to me before. Usually find that the idea doesn't have any staying power to keep me interested and they tend to not solve anything more than a made up problem that I've come up.
Sometimes a lack of companies in the space is an indicator that the market is too small for anybody to pursue it. Also, I wouldn't worry about sharing ideas, there's a lot of people in the world and there's probably somebody else already thinking about the same problem.
I'm not a believer in good ideas, just good execution.
I believe that good execution itself requires a lot of good ideas.
The ability to quickly identify bad decisions and not be married to them helps a ton as well :)
That's awesome. But having an idea that doesn't already exist, is just one tiny bit of building a business. And not even an essential one in my opinion.
Still, some questions to ask yourself before deep diving building it:
Is the idea something you are really passionate about?
Can you imagine working on this for the next 5 years, even if it does not get the traction you want?
Is there a market for it? How do you find out if you do not want to reveal it?
All that should not discourage you. Just saying there is more to the problem of building a business.
Still, there are unicorns and unicorn ideas. So maybe, this idea, is what you are meant to build. Could be! You have to find out.
There is many ideas that are not already taken in new niches.
I can think of a couple of ideas around FoundationDB.
I would recommend you to meet your target users and ask if they will really use it. Do it before you even start learning technologies to build it. This way, you will get validation on what you are thinking is right or wrong. If you user says they will use it, build a basic MVP/POC before going full steam. Validate that MVP and move ahead with the feedback you get. The idea is to work in small batches & iterate fast. [Taken from lean startup thinking]
Nobody can"take" your idea. That's not how it works!

When I started, I tried to find new ideas. Nowdays I try to find things I could hopefully do better.
