How people picked the day of their product hunt launch

Hi All,

There seem to be a number of factors affecting the choice of the day they launched on Product Hunt - and I wanted to share some recent learning from a post I put up:

  1. What was their goal - was it to get the social proof or to maximize the number of users obtain from the launch.
  2. Traffic - launching Tue/Wed/Thu is commonly thought of as having the most traffic. A launch these days could optimize sign-ups
  3. Readiness/Resources. Some people launched when they were ready, they had a milestone and launched that day. Others avoided certain days due to resource constraints - for example avoiding a Friday just in case the servers peaked!

My first launch was for a book app so we chose National Reading Day 🤷‍♂️

      That's brilliant - what a great idea!

I think there are many people who don't admit they launched when they got fed up of waiting for the "perfect" moment :)

      I don't think there is a perfect moment 🤣

I think its interesting people think the day REALLY matters and determines the success of their launch. Let's be real, it doesn't matter if you launch on a monday, tuesday, or wendesday. What matters is the strength of your product and the amount of marketing you've done prior to the launch.

People get so caught in these small details like they are going to be the thing that pushes them over the edge. The truth is that products would succeed or fail regardless of what day of the week they are made public.

The important thing is to have a solid MVP and marketing for your product, so when you do launch you're ready. If you don't have these 2 things, it's not going to matter who well you time the launch.

Tend to agree, and in fact you'd hope that poor products will end up lower on the list. The reality is that promoted products will get a boost
