Sacha Dumay, a 32-year-old French indie hacker living in Seoul, transitioned from a career as a CTO in Chicago to becoming a full-time solopreneur in 2025.

After co-founding and exiting ChatNode for over $200,000, he launched AI Thumbnail, a tool designed to help YouTubers and marketers generate viral thumbnails using AI. Lacking design skills but rich in AI and backend experience, Sacha built the product to solve his own frustration with boring, off-brand thumbnail templates.

Early user feedback was harsh but invaluable, prompting a full rebuild of the app. He capitalized on the launch of GPT-4 image capabilities and quickly pushed the new version to Product Hunt, earning a Top 8 spot with no paid promotion. His first few Stripe notifications validated the idea, leading him to pursue it full-time.

AI Thumbnail follows a subscription-based model, with initial traction gained through $49 lifetime deals.

Sacha now focuses on growing traffic through building in public, SEO, video content, and free tools that drive organic reach.

Despite being a solo founder and new dad, he’s steadily building both product and audience - one thumbnail at a time.
