How should I scale CoverLetterGPT, a job applications management tool?

So I just launched https://coverlettergpt.xyz, a job applications management app that leverages OpenAI's chatGPT to create personalised coverletters based on your CV/Resumé and the job description at hand.

At the moment it's the most minimal MVP I could think of. You can simply upload the above mentioned details, and the cover letter will be created for you. It's free to use, and no sign up.

I thought this might be an effective strategy just to get the word out and see if people use it and like it all.

From here, I've already developed a personalised dashboard, so users can log in, save their jobs, generate multiple cover letters, and keep track of their application status. In the future iterations I will also include the ability to regenerate cover letters with additional settings and features (e.g. creativity, variability)

My idea is that if this works, I could charge each user a set fee based on how many jobs/cover letters they produce. I could imagine charging $10 for up to 10 jobs with up to 10 cover letters variations for each job.

So my question for you all is: do you think this is a good idea, and how much would you be willing to pay for such features? What do you think of the initial idea? What would you change?

Any tips or feedback would be highly appreciated!
Thanks!

      awesome. good idea

are there any groups or communities on linkedin you recommend? or just post to my profile?

A lot of people on LinkedIn are looking for job. I'm sure that, whith a little initial force (maybe being supported by LifeHackers community) it's the only that you need to generate awareness about the idea!

My Micro SaaS Ideas Newsletter covered around OpenAI SaaS products last month.

I think in your case, probably the best bet would be to get into Facebook groups where a lot of students/freshers hangout discussing about jobs and see to get feedback.

Hey Vince! It's Orlundo. So good to see you on here!

Great idea. For someone who was recently submitted applications - its so taxing to spend time creating various CLs

Adding to my feedback, I would also recommend adding landing page video to your page so that you can explain your product quicker in a shorter amount of time.

If you are interested, I can write you a landing page video script for free for CoverLetterGPT. What I want in exchange is a honest video testimonial of my work.

Use product review sites and user referral programs as Growth Loops with the incentivization of the getting free tokens.

Your biggest goal is to generate revenue per user afterwards.

I've worked on something similar. That would be how you should do it.

I would also add a landing page to it.

Hey Vince, this tool looks really useful. Although I'd suggest you to take a different route when it comes to monetizing this:
-> You could keep this tool as free to use
-> Also add in a resume builder
-> And then start a job board and keep that as a subscription model

The idea is the two free tools will help you grow your audience and you'll be able to monetize them and the companies which will put up their jobs.

Also, I would love to know how you built this. You should put this up in a twitter thread or a youtube channel, very helpful in growing an audience.

I will definitely give this tool a shoutout in my newsletter. Cheers!

this is worth considering. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks, a lot!

I just updated it so you can now login, save jobs, and generate multiple cover letters with variability controls. There is also a link on the homepage that takes you to a doc where I explain the main tools I used. Once it's closer to "done" I will open source the code as well :)

    Hi Vince!

This looks like an awesome project, we get a lot of traffic from a similar niche .

I did some research and cover letters look like a relevant niche too with seo opportunity.

Perhaps we could set up an affiliate relationship whereby I promote your tool on my site?

How about we jump on a call next week?

DM me and we can make it happen!

Love the idea! Maybe coding bootcamp subreddits? Those folks just gambled quitting their job and spending $17000. It’s all on the line. What’s another few bucks

      oh, good call. 🙏
